lol @ Ron scaring you. Such a beautiful place. I never got to explore ND. Btw, the poop with the rocks - people are so weird. When I was a kid, I noticed dog mess in my grandmother’s yard, in more than one place, that had cat’s eye marbles stuck in it. You could tell they had been pushed into it when it was fresh. I asked about it, and a couple of my cousins told me that they did it - because it made it look better. I personally think cleaning it up would have been better, but that’s just me. 😂

You're right that people do weird things. I love that the reason was "make it look better" ;)

I just bought the ranger. To me the big downside was the cost. It costs a lot and the things that go with it cost a lot. Being so small I think it will help later on though. I have a chainsaw so cutting a basic grocery store log in half is no issue. Even less of an issue if it lets me use double the wood and it does not use too much wood.
@WanderLost2 ай бұрын
I agree about the cost being a downside. I hope that the amount you save on wood (and getting double the use from a bundle) will eventually make it feel like it was worth the money for the ranger.

“Why not Minot?” Is that still a slogan in the Air Force? When I was a kid in the 70s it was. I remember when you guys said you were at Maxwell, I said to my wife, “oh no, there’s not much to do down there and it’s so humid it’s awful to be outside.” IMO the best outdoor area in Alabama is oak mountain, not far from us. But, the only time we can enjoy it is from late October through maybe April. Was the lack of hiking uploads because of the heat/humidity/generally mundane landscape? I bet you guys are glad to have escaped the humidity and especially glad to be back closer to the Black Hills! I know it’s a drive from Minot, but at least it’s not the 1500 miles or so that we have to make! Btw, it’s not a hike, but there is an interesting road in North Dakota called “the enchanted highway” that has interesting/quirky and gigantic art features every few miles. There’s a KZbinr named Justin Scarred who has an entertaining video about it if you’re interested. It’s about 3 hours from Minot. Anyway, good to see you guys back.
@WanderLost2 ай бұрын
Oh, the Enchanted highway sounds awesome!! We will definitely go see it while we're here. And yes, Alabama was hot and humid, but I think it was also just the expectations that we had placed on us made it more stressful and less fun than it needed to be, so now that we have a better "plan" for doing it now and having fun!

I think for two or three people the Ranger is the perfect size. Like Grandpa's Console TV, over time, those larger ones will feel too large.
@WanderLost3 ай бұрын
That makes perfect sense. We end up using the ranger more often when it's just us too.

so you put stickers in the book to places you have not been to? Can you buy a sticker the same time you visit or are the not always available when you need them so you just need to buy a pack every year?
@WanderLost4 ай бұрын
For the stickers, yes. I add them in for everywhere, but I only get the passport stamps for places we have visited. The stickers are only available at certain locations, so I have the mindset that when I see them I buy them.

Interesting. I just saw a video by Mobile Instinct where he saw the actual bus she was on in the Henry Ford Museum. It’s been beautifully restored. In fact, I feel like it probably looks way better than when it left the factory. Also- “Do you see this big bird statue? Why? I don’t understand” - man, that cracked us up! Also that limb hitting your son in the face looked like that carnivorous plant, Cleopatra, from the Addams Family.
@WanderLost Жыл бұрын
Haha... I didn't even notice the limb hitting him. I've got to go back and watch it. And that big bird statue was just put in the week before and we didn't know it. I talked to a Troy student and he said "I don't know why it's there either!" haha... it was just so funny and unexpected! :) I'll have to go to the Henry Ford Museum and check out the bus (and the rest of the museum) that sounds interesting!

You cracked me up with the repeated “NO MA’AM!” My wife is also from the south, and she and our daughter cracked me up on the wildlife loop in Custer whenever they were freaked out by a bison or burrow. My wife’s on one side of the car saying “no ma’am!” and my daughter is on the other side letting out a reprimanding “SIR! SIR! EXCUSE ME!” Those were well behaved animals, though. I’ve heard of safaris where they removed trim and break things on cars. It freaked me out to see a bison so tame and being fed. My “training” in South Dakota views those as walking death, lol.
@WanderLost2 жыл бұрын
I felt the same way. I couldn't believe how well-behaved the animals were. There were a few who were aggressive, but we just rolled up our windows and avoided them. :) And I didn't realize I said "No Ma'am" so much until I was editing this video! :)

It gave me a creepy feeling, we heard Indiana's or someone signing in a different language but we never heard where it was coming from we try looking where the sound came from. Then someone drew a naked cartoon dude (like a pervert) n nail it to a tree. :/ After the walk that night I just felt like I was being watch when I showered. Went to bed, lived again at that time, closed my door to my room n I heard someone running back n forth my hallway n yelling in a crying way. I just prayed so hard n it went away. I knew what's was up at that min. Just put my prayer to work n no more going back to that place but now that I'm more faith strong 💪 I'm curious to visit again.

Well hi there you guys. Everyone loves a trip to the zoo. Well unless it is as hot as the sun. You two are looking good. The Army is treating you both well. Here's my zoo story. I once took my two German shepherds to the park that is outside the Denver Zoo. It was the mother and son doggies. Well momma went 8nto the water and the puppy well he was a year old . Well he took off running and went to the pond that has the water birds in it and tried to kill a few birds. Well the birds turned on him and attacked him. He didn't get hurt he just learned a lesson not to mess with birds. Me I got a $100 ticket for not controlling my dog. When I look back on it, it was funny. At the time I was so stressed out and I lost $100.

I love how when you say they don’t really have a standout kind of thing it sounds like you are keeping your voice down so that none of the animals or staff can hear you - and then the look on that snake’s face, like “do I mean nothing to you!?” Lol! A story from the zoo near where I live involves the reverse of the animals trying to get to the people: years ago, this kid who was trying to start his own “jackass” type show jumped into the rhino enclosure and started running around. Somehow he didn’t get killed. Interesting side note - he’s in prison now for murder, so the zoo animals are safe. Btw, I think I remember right that you said you are moving to the Montgomery area? I went to the zoo there an incredibly long time ago, and at that time, it was very nice. Hopefully it still is.
