Thanks for this info... I don't have any experience in the bus portion of entertainment touring but I do in tractor trailers... I'm a 22yr vet and I've got a year tractor trailer entertainment touring. I'm looking to make a change in the transportation industry, but wanting to stay in the entertainment portion of it, so I'm looking into tour buses, thanks for all the content

I wanted to do that job so bad but no one would give me any info! I've got around 4 million accident free miles and was a team driver! I guess you have to know somebody or maybe it's a lot of jealousy!?

It’s great drivers out there that would be an asset to your company! I’m smart enough to learn that job very very quickly and a damn good driver also. Around 4 million accident free miles. A co-driver once said that he never knew I was changing gears except by the sound of the engine. Smooth!! Where I go when I get back doesn’t matter to me! Nothing to come home for. I’m just voicing my opinion and I completely understand y’all have rules and requirements to follow. I really enjoyed your videos. Keep them coming.Keith

Appreciate the video! Its a misconception that "Cattle Haulers" aren't smooth. The best live stock haulers are always smooth! Also, I do typically run with my Engine Brake on most of the time, except in inclement weather. I have always prided myself on knowing where the switch is on the pedal. I can let off and coast without the Jake coming on. If you are easy with your foot on the accelerator, the passengers would be hard pressed to even feel it come on. I do agree about Cruise. I find I can give people a much better ride without Cruise Control. I always have room to improve, but I have been told by many groups that I am smooth and even...and the Jake was on the whole time! Especially in the Mountains.

Hey man, where would I find the opportunity to get into the tour bus industry? I have experience driving a school bus for 3 years and I’m on my first year driving a tractor trailer. I appreciate your time, thanks.

Best place to start is as a co-driver for a small to mid size company. Do that for a few years and then maybe move up to the Bigger companies and larger tours. Search online for companies like Village Tours, Coach Quarters, Beat the Street etc.

I hit a deer a few years back while co-driving my fiends bus. Luckily we were dead heading home. Do you or any of your drivers have deer stories? I’m certain that all deer are suicidal.
@Nelvis77

There are a lot of deer stories…some drivers say the deer whistles work and some say they don’t , maybe your comment on all deer are suicidal has some merit. 🤔

1:06 elogs are the best, they not only avoid problems with the dot, they actually gain one more useable drive time due to logging in seconds instead of increments of 15 minutes. I love my elogs. plus they make logging so much easier and quicker, instead of having to fill out all the form and draw lines etc... probably 30 minutes wasted every day. you have me hooked, I only have a year of big bus experience, but 9 yrs otr 2.5 as an owner operator , I'd have to be able to bring one of my 4 lbs chihuahua's. I have tons of limo and taxi experience so customer service and professionalism are tip top. yes know when to talk and when to just drive the vehicle , is important. just there to do a job, not out there to be star struck. I met enough famous people working in circuses. , generally not impressed.

i met Smitty back in April in Vancouver. we were at different venues a block away from each other. my client wanted me to go down an alley behind the venue for load in with an overhead clearance that made me a little uncomfortable, since i didn’t wanna get stuck backing out of a narrow alley with a trailer, so my compromise was to pull alongside the alley entrance on the street and have them push the gear. then around the corner comes a Pioneer bus looking to swing into the alley, which i was blocking since i had positioned the drop gate so they could come out of the trailer and straight down the alley. out comes Smitty and he was madder than a hornet at the alley being blocked. he was frustrated because he needed to get to load in and couldn’t understand why i didn’t just pull down the alley, or pull further forward. i told him i was in an MCI and they’re obnoxiously tall, and there was a city truck ahead of me and i couldn’t get any further forward. after a few minutes of (rightfully deserved) frustration towards me and making me question my own decision making(lolll) he looked and said he saw why i made the choice i made, and he was just tired and ready to get to the hotel(we ALL know that feeling). as soon as the city truck moved, we lifted the gate and he spotted me as i pulled forward and made room for him to swing in. then he let me borrow a star bit i was missing so that i could tighten a leaking front wheel seal. long story short, this guy is a seasoned pro. and i don’t care how long or short you’ve been in this side of the business, he can teach you something.
