I can sympathize 100%. The anxiety was almost overwhelming as the phantom (clone) quadcopter flew off erratically, ultimately to the great beyond, never to be seen again , eventually landing somewhere between Gold Hill Mesa and Sand Creek, Colorado Springs. Now I will try a tethered drone. Conversion is 90% complete. Provides almost unlimited flight time , (fly away proof), no batteries.

You can really tell how much DJI drones have advanced. I have a Mini 2 and Mini 4 pro. I did have the mini 2 lost one time but it was my fault and I stayed cool and flew it back.

my drone left me for no apparent reason. I got on my motorcycle, chased it as good as I could. Strange thing happened all of a sudden.... I saw 3 separate sets of lights just my drone. I didnt know which lights were mine and I followed the ones I thought were mine and thats all she wrote. All 3 sets of lights were changing direction, but my controller wasnt doing anything.

I just had the same experience with my Drone but I'm didn't come back don't think would want a another drone 😮

maybe someone hijacked your signal and did some like the flipper does , They do have sytems like these The NFL has a huge problens with drones and trying to crash the game , The name esxcapes me but they use one where it can tell them when a drone has become online and theryr thn able to send a message to the pilot or they themselves hijacking the signal and bringing it down themselves

Before I knew what a fly away was there was this one time where I fleW My mavic air out really far( Far?? Mavic Air ? Yeah right... ) lol okay 2 blocks up where connection was spotty so to add more salt to the womb shit thats drifting sideways mind you I never had any drones pretty new to the hobby like I didnt know you can mod the controller add antennas or amplifiers etc .. I PANIC My heart is pumping and im trying to run for it like physically chasing it down to restablish connection,, so in the midst of all this my battery is now 35 % shits wild I came to fact I may have lost this drone so I chill out and notice that my finger was stuck or idk i unconciously was holding the throttle upp , So my flyaway was probably nothing but mem holding the throttle down and not noticing may have been why It kept trying to get away! This litterally happend in like more or less 5 -10 min ,,, I did end up landing down the block though lol Now im more chill I try to re orientate myself stopping first and just see if I recognize any landmarks then I try to restablish strong signal by moving around the antennas or tilting ever so slightly all in all I didnt or have nver used the RTH but Im more trusting with it i just knnow to find a big area to give it space to fail ...

I had a DJI phantom two and about three years ago I had the same experience as you. After that I put it away for a year and the batteries were dead when I took it out so now I bought the mini too and the DJIFPV cause I have more confidence in them nowadays with the Accu sync two and 3

Holy molly it turned into a racing fpv drone

I had a parrot beboop 2 do something weird, it went up, and then started spinning, the controller did nothing, if went out of sight, after a few mins, i turned off the controller and packed up, expecting id never see it again and hoping it wouldnt hurt anybody or cause any damage, as i was about to go inside, i heard it, it came back, it was still spinning so i have no idea how it managed to get back, it crashed into my building about 15 ft up. broke the frame, i could easily fix that but would never be brave enough to fly it again.

Concrete has massive amounts of rebar, and that might have been part of the issue, but why would it be so crazy for a N, S, E, W, compas? Do these drones have ribbon cables that become lose? If so, those connections should be soldered.

It is the communications off the ships radar and the comms tower in Port. But hats off to you mate I would have turned controler off and been in the car and already half way home .

i think you should switch the receiver off and on....you had plenty of time...not that this will fix the fly away but in cases like this you have to try everything

Similar to an episode that happened to me (Mavic pro 2)... I believe it was because I put my drone in the trunk of my vehicle to go fly, not realizing there is a large sub-woofer under the floor of the trunk that likely magnetized my drone's compass. I bought a de-magnetizer, used it and then recalibrated everything. I have been flying this drone for 3 years with no issues, until I bought this new car..... luckily, I too was able to get my drone landed safely. Scary, huh?
