21:9 (2.33:1) is very close to the aspect ratio of a typical movie (2.4:1), so any TV that works for movies will work for 21:9 content. The higher the resolution, the better. 8K would be ideal.

@@moravianlion3108 so when you watch a 4K movie at 2.4:1 aspect ratio, which is only 74% of the full screen, is that not 4K? The convention is that the horizontal resolution defines the 8K label. That’s just the way it is.

@@GalacticWarthog How do you call actual 8k resolution then? 8k+? Don't you think the convention is wrong then? Imagine getting set of tires for a car and getting set of 3, in case of discussed topic here, set of 2. "It's a convention, just buy another set, if you're so fancy!" Let's fix the convention and call it 6k. Which proportionally represents fully this resolution. Not so hard, is it? But corpos will always try to sell you less for more.

If the horizontal resolution is 7680 then it is 8K.

@@moravianlion3108 Unfortunately the fact remains that the only way you can see it in full resolution, is on a screen that has 7680 pixel width. Good luck finding a "6K" screen with 7680 width.

@@GalacticWarthog I managed to list it out in yt-dlp but in the browser even on the Samsung Neo G9 dual UHD I cannot get the option for 8K. In the past no 8K video was listed even in yt-dlp.

Interesting. I actually upgraded my work monitor to a Odyssey Neo G9 57 yesterday, and saw my own videos for the first time on the superwide Samsung in 8K. On Chrome, it has full 8K HDR, although I am getting dropped frames in the 60Hz videos, still got to figure that one out.

The footage was not sped up, the individual frames were captured at 1 second intervals. Otherwise your points would stand. I would love to have the original in video form, but alas, only separate still photos and no captured audio.

Yes, indeed, I have a 8TB SSD that was needed for the final rendered movie, before being compressed down for youtube.

Your other hardware and software has to be capable of displaying 7680x2160 AV1 video, otherwise that option is not available to you. In general, on Windows, use Chrome or Chromium based browser with the AV1 codec downloaded from Microsoft.

The 12 bit and the 444 doesn't make any sense right now, but who knows, maybe oneday when bandwidth is even cheaper, and the video formats better, it will be re-encoded.

When you click on "stats for nerds" (right click to pull up the context menu), what does it say? The optimal for the neo g9 57 will have Codec AV1 at full 8K and Color Rec 2020. If you don't have these, there is an issue with your hardware or possibly software.

@@Chesterwilliamfrancis If you are on Windows make sure you have installed the AV1 Video Extension from the Microsoft Store. Then go to KZbin Settings | Playback and Performance and make sure "Always prefer AV1" is checked. If your hardware is unable to support AV1 then you're out of luck. Try it with Chrome first, or Edge.

@@GalacticWarthogMany Many thanks. I did exactly as u adviced and it works. I am now able to change quality to 8K mode and now stats nerd shows i am at 7680x2160 . Looks amazing in full screen now.
