Big time help. Insulating my garage. Are gloves and a mask necessary?
@djfglobal33774 күн бұрын
I absolutely use an N-95 . I (also) absolutely do not want any fiberglass fibers in my lungs . Also I wear gloves because I in general try try to limit my contact in addition to washing hands as often as possible. A TON of guys do not wear mask or gloves but that is their own comfort level. Before I had a strong negative air machine or whenever I do not have one handy -for any particle creating activity I try to at least have a box fan or two blowing out the window(s)- sawdust, concrete dust, insulation, drywall/plaster etc. In addition to sealing a door with tape or putting up a plastic wall. Ps - this video is the correct way to install fiberglass batts in my opinion

What about if I'm insulating my basement’s ceiling? Should I use the same technique?
@InsulationMachines26 күн бұрын
Just use unfaced fiberglass. Be mindful that if you insulate your basement ceiling, the floor above will will not benefit from the radiant transfer of heat in the winter (if you are in a very cold climate).
@patrickh580129 күн бұрын
Stapling it to the inside of the studs does not create a vapor barrier and this way will not pass code unless you put plastic over the whole wall.
@InsulationMachines28 күн бұрын
This is a recommended install by the manufacturer. Adding an additional plastic over the facing creates a double vapor barrier. You would need to use unfaced material if you use plastic.
@djfglobal33774 күн бұрын
Also , how will your drywallers glue the drywall to the studs? Do you not use glue ? If your guys are using a screw every 6 “ or 8 “ on walls you can insulate with the tabs in the face of the studs but only on walls . Should typically still glue ceilings . I comment respectfully , thanks

The vacuum bag in the video was only 6 months old. It was stored in a shop near a garage door which allowed it to be in direct sunlight for hours at a time. It was in the very hot Southeastern United States. Conditions definitely were not ideal and it didn’t take long for it to disinegrate. Bags also do not like cold weather.
