Halo infinite got two things right, the grappling hook, and the Master Chief. The Master Chief is not a relatable character, because he's not supposed to be, he's a what you wish you could be. Like a father figure you feel safe when he's around, you're worried when you see him struggle, and you want to become him when you get older, that's the Master Chief.

I know exactly what you mean mate. I met some friends through Halo, when Halo 2 was coming out I was at college worried about wtf im gonna do for a job (yeah im that old). But when i played that game with some friends we met through the same, for those moments all the worry went away. Years later we have all gone our seperate ways.. life. .....anybody wanna play Halo? 😅

What a great video! New subscriber here. ❤ and you're so right, this game is an immersive experience like no other. I only finished it for the first time last week and it has changed me. I loved how beautiful and realistic all the scenery was straight away and absolutely fell in love with the free play aspect. Just hunting, fishing, camping, going anywhere I liked, it felt so freeing. But then as the story progressed, especially when Arthur got his diagnosis, it took me completely for a loop. I was devastated! I have never cried over a fictional character before, but I'd been playing the game for at least 6 months by then and I feel like we got to know Arthur deeply by the time we lost him. Something in me has changed, I feel Arthur has taught me to be braver somehow. I don't know if we'll ever get another game like this, it is a masterpiece from start to finish. ❤ PS, love your accent btw! You are incredibly easy to listen to. 😍

A bad original story is so much worse than a bad adaptation. If the Halo show was literally just the game story but in a TV format (much like how there's so many mediorce anime adaptations of books/games), it'd just be like, oh yeah whatever, who cares. But what they did was straight up disrespectful.
@KieranMcNiven
@KieranMcNiven 8 күн бұрын
Couldn't agree more, TLOU is a great example, even though I didn't enjoy some of the adaptions like making Joel appear older and weaker (I loved Joel's dad strength in the games lol), it was still a far more pleasant experience than if they made an original story that was poorly written. In terms of Halo, I would've took literally a half faithful adaption of the games over what we got.

I really like infinite but the open world is rubbish and I don’t like most of the cutscenes. But gameplay was fun. I’ve completed it two or three times on legendary. They were so close to getting everything right.
@KieranMcNiven
@KieranMcNiven 8 күн бұрын
Yeah I mostly agree with that, I felt like the presence of Chief made me forget how repetitive the cutscenes were haha, it's probably just my attachment to Steve Downes voice that just made the repetitiveness of it all just seem unimportant. Never has a game been so close to getting it right but they just missed the mark

@ on my last play through I did my own editing and only watched the important cutscenes. Made a huge difference to me. I love the linear missions but the open ones are just a drag especially the sequence. I feel like you about halo it’s been and still is heartbreaking to watch the downfall.

This is a great video man. Rdr2 has so many great stories and quotes. My favorites was from rain falls. When he tries to stop his son from going to battle, he say something along the lines of “the world that those men came from(eagle flies n his men) is a world we cannot endure, but endure we must, the earth the water they have no pride. They endure. We must endure.”

Now while playing for the first time, I'm not even close to finishing and its already one of my favorite games of all time. I also wanted to say thank you very much for this video. this has become one of my favorite videos of all time now and i have struggled a lot with being hard on myself and thinking I'm not good enough for the world and even though I'm 19 i tell myself i need to have it all figured out. Glad you're enjoying the game! It's one heck of a ride (pun intended). And hey man, you sound a lot like me when I was 19, hell looking back the amount of growth I've went through is incredible, but when you're in the moment you don't appreciate how far you've come. Take it from me brother, life is a roller-coaster, we can get so caught up in this success driven world we live in right now. Taking the time to appreciate the small things in life is what made me overcome this feeling of being unworthy. Getting out in nature, feeling gratitude for everything around me and slowing down is what aligns with me, and I hope that it can for you too. Thank you for your lovely comment :)

The only limits to this game are the boundaries of your imagination . . . . players who complete all the missions and say 'I beat the game' haven't even scratched the surface, even after you complete 100%, that's still only a fraction of what the world has to offer. Taking your time to experience and explore everything can take hours, many thousands of hours..

Hey, brother. I'm glad this video popped up in my recommended. Your words definitely spoke to me and got through to me. Slowing down is such an important aspect of life so that we can truly see the world around us. Some of your words truly made me tear up. Amazing video. No one ever really has things figured out. RDR2 gave me a sense of morality and mortality. I was just graduated from high school when I played. It didn't properly hit me until a second playthrough. I had done overnight hikes with my father and uncle and their friends. But once I soaked in RDR2 in its entirety, being out in nature was a healing experience. Being out there and realizing the luxuries of modern life is a shock, but welcoming. Being thankful for clean water, warm food, beautiful views. It truly changes you to the core. I've stared at the sightlines and just felt overwhelmed by the simplistic beauty of the world. As you've said, in layman's terms, your value is not determined by certain hobbies or lifestyles, but by those who make memories with you and treasure the experiences you make with them. Fuck wealth and status, memories are what matters most. That's what gets passed down. Not how much money you made or what status you had. It's what type of man/woman you were. z RDR2 has made me start going out into nature more, find my own path and happiness in life. Despite your failures, you can always improve and change. You are never too old to change your ways. Thank you for this video, once again. I really appreciate the man-to-man talk. It has helped me immensely. I am not a religious man, but I hope that you are blessed in sort of way. You are down to earth and truthful to yourself. I truly wish the best for you. Best wishes for you. Please take care of yourself. I have subbed, I truly look forward to your future content. Much love, partner. P.S. If you ever have questions about overnight hiking in terms of gear the weight you carry, please let me know (as well as anyone else). Me and my old man have some experience and can give some sound advice. Much love to everyone who reads this. May you all prosper in life. (I'm sorry for this drunken comment.)

This comment is a gem to me brother. Hearing people say they needed to hear what I say fills me oddly enough, with a feeling of imposter syndrome, but again I could take my own advice and recognise that we all never truly have it all figured out. As you said, life is about the important experiences we have, the trips with your father is something you'll never forget, and in turn, you'll no doubt have experiences with others, be it with friends or even children if that's something that you would want, that will be directly passed down from those times spent with your father. That is the essence of life, not wealth and status. Thank you for your blessings, and I hope the same for you. If I'm ever in need for guidance for hikes and such I will for sure seek it from you, I'm still inexperienced in this game so anything I can soak up would be great. Thanks for watching, commenting and subbing, more is on the way soon, took a nice break over the holidays and I'm eager to make content again :)

Red Dead 2 has a sense of what the japanese call Ma or a pause in time, an interval or emptiness in space. Ma is the time and space life needs to breath, to feel and connect. If we have no time, if our space is restricted, we cannot grow. This universal principle applies to every aspect of life.

A great video about a great game. Thank you! Your reflections on gratitude after camping reminds me of what a character, Gus McCrae, says in 'Lonesome Dove' - 'Lorie darlin', life in San Francisco, you see, is still just life. If you want any one thing too badly, it's likely to turn out to be a disappointment. The only healthy way to live life is to learn to like all the little everyday things, like a sip of good whiskey in the evening, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk, or a feisty gentleman like myself.'
