That's Class, Mary Black such a distinctive voice, I heard a three piece Lebanese band in Beirut belting this out, surreal moment.

Other than Steve, the other three... Kelly Joe, Eric Taylor, and Greg Trooper (and David Olney who he calls out in the intro) have all passed. RIP. At this point, it adds a erie poignancy to this beautiful reading of one of his best songs.

I think Steve remembers all the people he has met. The man is a icon. I think he will pass away making new music. Steve Earle will never fade away... He will be making new music even after he is gone.

Was lucky enough to be there sat behind him, bloke with stupid pony tail. Me and my mate hitch hiked 2 days to get to Nashville for this with no guarantee of getting in. Thankfully KJP was a true gent and gave me and my mate his table. What a legend.

Sad that Steve is the only one still alive of these four. I traded for a bootleg years ago to see/hear Kelly Joe Phelps, but loved Greg Trooper & Eric Taylor nearly as much. Steve was already a fave, but this song confirmed that.

Watching this just now, I remember that Kelly Joe passed. I had forgotten. Saw Steve on this albums tour and he opened with Christmastime in Washington. By himself. So amazing.

Great live-version! Pretty disrespectful, at 6:35 the end titles start. I mean, this is a sincere Folk-song, not a funny closing jingle or something.

I was thrilled to trade for the bootleg DVD of this Bluebird Cafe show to get some live KJP. I was beginning to like Steve Earle, but hadn't heard Greg Trooper or Eric Taylor before. KZbin's great, but no substitute for hearing this show start to finish. Now I learn of Kelly Joe's passing --- three of the four in this show gone. First Trooper, then Taylor, now Kelly. RIP guys.

I am doing a similar traipsing through his videos understanding the loss to music. This is a really good one especially showing his humility and wit right at the end of the video. A great place to remember him.

Steve Earle is a great songwriter. A political theorist; not so much. Eric Taylor is a poet; never gave a fuck about politics, except about Wounded Knee, which we all know..
