Fascinating. While the prices seem to be mostly aimed at a family of four with particularly big spending habits, probably living in an expensive area, there is useful data in there. Some of those things are surprisingly cheap. But as a lone, low spender (I live on 11k USD a year in Canada) it's a bit difficult to gauge how much less I'd be paying for things.

I'm a British single bachelor in my 50's, quite fit and active, looking to retire in Mauritius and would be on my own. Would you say it's reasonably easy to integrate and make friends in the west (Tamarin / Flic en Flak)?

This vid was made 3 years ago i guess....add at least 20% to these costs (in Rupees). If you can live on foreign cash you do better because of the Rupee devaluation.... With a thousand Euro a month you are on the poor side....

Hi i think your cost of living is quite accurate. We lived there 6 month but to be honest it was to expensive for us..especially the products we are used fresh fruits and veggies.But lovely island with wonderful people we enjoyed it 😊

Cost of living in India for a single person including rent in a small city with good medical facilities is just INR 20,000 Per month that's about MUR 10,000 per month. For a family of 4 it is about MUR 30,000 per month including house rent and school fees for 2 children.
