I remember building one. At that time, I wasn't a very competent modeler. My models had huge seam lines running through them. So the fit/engineering is something I didn't really scrutinize as much as I do today. But I still remember it having fairly large gaps and seems. And some of the fuselage parts require a lot of wrestling to fit together. The biggest headache for me was the landing gear. It's a two-part design attached together with a pivot. So getting the angles wrong is very easy. Do you have any recommendations? I'm thinking of having another go. I now live in China (Brit expat). They cost about £85 in the UK, but less than £30 in China! I'll throw on some Reskit aftermarket R-24 and R60m missiles!

These can be great for running the sound on dc track. What no one (or few) seems to mention is that running DCC on DC track, even if the loco says it's designed to do so, is that it takes soooo much power to run the sound that any remaining power going to make the loco move is so limited that you'll only get maybe 1/2 speed at best at full power. If anyone has been able to get past this problem, I'm all ears. But it isn't really worth having all these sound features activated on DC if the loco moves at a snail pace. Someone needs to make a DC loco with at least a whistle that periodically blows on DC without sapping all the power so it can still move. The BL one that I have came with engine sounds, but no whistle. I'd much rather have the other way around, but it's still kind of a dumb feature to have if the loco won't really move anyway.

how can I change the whistle sound cv because when I hit the whistle it makes a couple of sound and I don't have the DC Master but I do have a nce power cab for DCC bec this made for both dc/dcc blueline, and have to say this is one of a big headache,iv been looking on Google and nothing I found is helping,oh and when I do a factory reset it's still the same way not sure what the factory did but this is not fun to fix.

Nice kit for it's age but Tamiya blew it with the intakes big time. Aftermarket intakes are needed and are costly and are a pain to install. Tamiya's decal's are printed by themselves, not Cartograph and are known to be overly thick. They could have done a better job on such a large scale kit for a company known for it's superb quality models. This is just my view on this one kit. Cheers.

You can't beat Tamiya for its engineering, perfectly fitting together ( pieces) , detailed yet not cluttered like other Chinese model makers, Tamiya's easy to follow instructions, and personally, the best box art.

Why 1/35? Tamiya is why. They started it, and it caught on. Really ditto for 1/48 armor as well.

I mostly do aircraft, but have picked up a few tank kits. One thing I found with tanks is they are a lot more forgiving in the building and painting. Being constantly surrounded by dirt and debris make them great starters to learn how to weather.
