I was one of the people taken out in a hum V on Main St. I can honestly say we were glued to the radio and news and every station didn't mention us.....until high tide was about to hit. The foot high water we usually got if it rained heavy, didn't subside. I'm very grateful our house was under water by a foot or more.

Goldie told me, he could see an oyster in 10' of water. Can I get a job with you? I am a waterman. It would be my lifes Honor to restore the bay.

NOAA lies! They post that the Greenland ice sheet holds the equivalent of 7.4 meters of sea level rise, but the math says it would only cover 1/64000 of the surface with 1 ft of water. That is a major discrepency using their own data.

I really feel bad for the people that grew up there, as kids. Lots of memories the kids of today won't get to have. New times, new memories, I understand. Looking for bottles and different treasures etc. Just looks like a fun place to have been as a kid.

The only way aquaculture will ever compete with the wild oyster harvest is if the government continues to take from working waterman .

Used to visit Island No2 for a few weeks each summer when I was a kid. We had a great time crabbing on the Honga River and always caught more than we could eat. The rest just got picked down for crab meat. You could always expect Mr Roamie to stop by for a chat and a good story about how it "used to be" in the old days. I loved the tiny post office and the general store. We must have bought every cream cycle they had in stock. Used to get salted eel for our trot line from Ripon Brothers crab house for next to nothing. Now they cost $3.00 each if you can even find them. I was amazed by how fast the ladies at the picking houses could go through a table full of crab. It was a golden time in my childhood, and I'll never forget how nice everyone on the island was to us. I hope your new aquaculture does well for you. That 's a shame that the other islands are going the way of island number 3. You folks deserve better than that. I'll be praying for you, and your way of life. It's something special that the world doesn't even know the value of.
