If anyone wants a good read, you should read Jebs book, he has a few pages on Slim, he was in awe of him, he was last of a group of far out Australians base jumpers to die ( Dawin included). Jeb states in his book Slim was already very weak and injured from his last accident but wanted to jump again and use a wing suit to get distance, as he no longer had strength to push away. Everyone knew it was a bad idea but since he was a legend nobody tried to stop him. During the jump he got into trouble and due to his lack of upper body strength and overall weakness could not recover and the back of his head impacted at high force an air conditioning unit making him brain dead instantly. His body was kept alive until his family came over and then they switched off his life support, thus ending the life of the last of the legendary group of base jumpers from Australia that shook BASE to its core .They change BASE forever pushing the limits far beyond what anyone thought was possible, but they all paid a heavy price for it.
