One of my three turtles also follows humans around. He never did this before until a bad event happened to him. He is an adventurous one. He tried so hard to get out from the barrier made out of tiles and duck tape applied on to balcony woods (they are to prevent our turtles falling from balcony. we live in 2nd floor apartment). One strong windy day, the barrier went broken. The turtle fell from the balcony and made a loud thud. Probably hit the concrete footpath. My mom was so panicked and immediately went to grab him. He was so startled. Scared. Thankfully just the tiny edge of his scoot got chipped out but there’s a little blood came out. It broke our hearts. Vets recommend to use Neosporin on the scar then just a few days after he was fine and healed. He started approaching my mom and me and try so hard to be on top of our head. He wants to communicate and get our attention and affection! When we wandered around his tank, he tried to swim out just for a lift and greet. I like to give him head rubs and he respond with a slow eye wink. 😉 We monitored him if he just wanted food. No, it’s affection. 💀👌 He is also VERY JEALOUS when we play with other two male turtles. Got to the point where he nommed other smaller male turtle’s *entire head*. We had to separate him from other turtle.
