Do you think the bauer sander will work for removing popcorn ceiling?
@michaelwolf6424Күн бұрын
Want more advice? When you load up your spreader trowel, "cut" the edges so that the mud is centered toward the middle. This way when you spread the mud, it won't flow over the trowel edges to be scraped twice. Try it.

is that a drain in the middle? how will they connect without breaking the patch?
@aredrywallrepair97197 күн бұрын
@Joethetoolguy thanks for the question. This is only a mock-up. On a real project, the plumbers would have the drain pipes and water lines capped off or further out to where they can hook up their lines. This is just for demonstration purposes. Hopefully that helped.

why are you putting the mud back in the pan and taking it out again? put the mud on the walls, stop wasting motions.

@aredrywallrepair971913 күн бұрын
@asasupplies8749 you have to use a primer/sealer. Zinsser and kilz are two options. Make sure it says stain blocker. Or the pee stain will just keep bleeding through the drywall and paint. Hope that helps

It's quite refreshing and endearing buddy, that you have the moral honesty, and were humble enough not to cut recording to start a new take, and edit out your cutting mistake completely. I always genuinely appreciate that noble character trait in people. Grandaddy always browbeat it in, that ”It takes REAL MEN to admit their mistakes". (too many "PERFECT" tutorial videos nowadays, never get taught the common nuances of how to correct and move forward to just "keep your head up" after a failure) Mad props bro. I'm enjoying your vidz. They've become pricelessly invaluable in my current NIGHTMARE of a project. Due to the current economy's negative impact on me personally, I stumbled into a situation with a coworker, who is much older, and extremely wealthy (she only works there simply to stay active daily), but she has rental properties throughout the city. She had one run-down abandoned property that she refuses to sell, because her father actually built it by himself with bare hands in 1937, when he was 18 years old. We've come to an agreement, for me to move in it, and perform renovations and repairs, to bring it back from the dead... In exchange for my rent. I'm grateful for this situation, but i feel i may have overestimated my handyman capabilities. I've always been a Jack-of-all-trades, but didn't take into consideration upon agreement on this deal, that throughout my 45 years on Earth, the ONLY "handyman / construction" tasks I've NEVER done, or had the opportunity to attempt... Is termite damage repairs / replacement, and drywall / sheetrock repairs / replacement. 90% of the renovation this house requires, are both of them. So you can prob imagine how much I'm kickin myself in the ass now. lol If you, or anyone else reading this, harbors sympathy towards my situation, and finds favor with my plight... ...and you happen to have video links, or your own videos... Featuring framework rotting / warping / settling from termite damage, and the subsequent aftermath of drywall cracking / warping / splitting... Please post a reply with those links that you believe may be helpful to me! Preciate ya! Keep up the good work, and makin great videos buddy. (and always maintain that awesome noble character) Cheers! 😁

It is just good practice. Alot of mud on the corners causes it to push out of the sides causing you to have to go back and scrape it off separately. It is less messy and saves time to just remove the corners.

This is why I prefer to spec double boarding, which apart from giving the wall a more solid, quality feel and better acoustics for little extra money, its MUCH easier to repair as you patch onto the first layer that means that you are not attempting to hang a patch in 'free space'.
@aredrywallrepair971923 күн бұрын
Yes, while I agree, most residential homes are only single layered 1/2 in drywall. In custom homes and commercial buildings, I've done double layer 5/8 in for ceilings and/or shared walls for both sound density and fire rating. This is just to demonstrate for those single layered walls. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Any advice for a wall with a light shining at a tight 90° angle down the wall? I got the 24" blade and the wall im dealing with at my house is about 8 feet wide. I dont know if i should roll the mud over the entire wall amd skim it all out... Or am I suppose to just go 24" at a time, and roll mud overlapping into the last pass as I go? I am struggling big time and just want to be done. The light source hitting the wall at such a tight angle is making it so hard.
@aredrywallrepair9719Ай бұрын
@xbadandy182x Hi, great question. Thanks for asking. The short answer would be to move the light. Any time you have light, either direct sunlight or artificial light from a lamp or bulb; that shines directly up, down, at an angle or off water that cascades like from a pool across a wall, it will show every imperfect as well as every stud enhancing every hump. It's worse if the wall happens to be painted a dark color like dark greens, blues, reds, purple, and so forth. The proper way to inspect or direct light onto a wall is to have the light approximately 6 ft back lighting the entire surface of the wall or if light is on the ceiling shining down, it should be 2-3 ft away from the wall. You can try to skim the whole wall to fill in the humps. I have a darbie video demonstration on that. Try watching that video also. It may help if moving the light isn't an option. Also, use a pva primer before painting. And apply 2 coats of paint to help prevent any flashing from the wall. Hopefully, that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for watching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5CmfppjiZlgnLssi=WVxdxTZ82rTNtWR4
