Could you show how you'd shape light that you bounce off a white service without too much, or unwanted spill in those smaller spaces?

I'm in the process of learning that now, but honestly I try to light the entire room first (for the wide shot) and I find the better I do that, the less I need to change things for the close ups. Sometimes I don't reshape at all. But it's definitely a skill I'm playing with!

Cool video!!! Do you have any tips to take a side shot like you did? I mean, I could imagine that you used another light, a white one (behind the camera) to avoid making the footage too dark. Also, I would think that you turned off all the ambient light except for that orange hot one. I'd like to take a shot like that in a small workshop station showing a character in the process of manufacturing an engine, but the environment has too much light. I like how you did this, so I wanted to know if it's possible.

If you have Instagram you can message me a picture (or email me at [email protected]) and I can help with more specific info, but in general... The only lights I used were the ones in the video. No extra lights were used to bring up the level. But I definitely do need to do that for a lot of my shots. Generally, a light pointed straight at the ceiling (assuming the ceilings are white) will help bring up the ambient light in the room. Then a table lamp on your workshop station would look really cool. If it's one of those flexible ones (the one that looks like the Pixar lamp lol) then you can point it at whatever you're working on so the brightest part of the image will be you and your work area. That or a tube light above your head would look cool and authentic. Don't hesitate to message or email me though. I wanna help as best I can! 🙌

... and for the side shot, just make sure the lamp is on the far side of whatever side you shoot on. So if you're on your right side, put the light on the left side of you.
