10 EUR im Monat für ein Home-User, ist einfach too much und auch noch auf 100 Geräte begrenzt. In der Zeit wo Gefühl jeder Lichtschalter, jede Steckdose und auch noch die Zahnbürste ins Internet will, nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Aber naja. Damit ist auch Open-Source Firewall keine Open-Source mehr.

Klingt sehr nach dem CrowdSec Konzept. Nur leider wird nicht viel über die Kosten gesagt. Und vor allem ist das Thema DPI sehr heikel, weil es sich um einen SaaS-Anbieter handelt. Offline meinetwegen, aber sicher nicht mit Cloud-Datenstaubsaugern. Brauche jetzt erstmal eine Treiber-Lösung für meine OPNsense und den QCA986x/988x 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter der Sophos XG 125w Hardware (Qualcomm Atheros). FreeBSD scheint nicht so dolle mit der Wifi-Treiber-Unterstützung zu sein.

I am starting to look into OPNsense and Zenarmor to see if it can do what I'm doing with E2Guardian. In E2Guardian I'm running in Walled Garden mode with an allow list for websites. Since Squid seems to be no longer developed, and E2Guardian requires Squid, there seems to be an end of all this. I've checked pricing for Zenarmor and it seems like something I can squeeze into my budget each year so I'm looking at going forward with both OPNsense and Zenarmor. Also is Suricata still needed, or is this handled by Zenarmor? Yes I have many basic questions and will be digging deeper as time and testing permits.

Hello. my hardware CPU Model: Intel(R) Celeron(R) J1900 CPU @ 1.99 GHz CPU score: 152049 Physical memory size: 8.0 GB. I meet the requirements and it doesn't give me the option to install the Elasticsearch database along with Zenarmor. I see 3 options Install a local Mongodb Database Use a Remote Elasticsearch Database Use a local SQLite Database (Support up to 100 devices) Which one do you recommend I use in this case?

Great video, but when installing (now 12months on since your video) I dont have the option to put in Elasticsearch? Only Mongodb is "local" option? :S

Hi LordEthan2, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our video. To run the Elasticsearch database along with Zenarmor, you will need a minimum of 8GB RAM. High-end systems will have four database options on installation, while low-end systems will only have three options, except for the Local ElasticSearch DB. For better performance, we recommend an SSD disk. We hope this information is helpful to you. Best Regards

Wow thanks for your prompt reply! I went with MongoDB anyway which seems to be going OK for the moment.. Interestingly enough i have 8GB of ram and still didnt see the elasticsearch option? however my CPU score was i think about 145,xxx? Is that too low? @@zenarmor

Hi MiFonito, The principles of Zenarmor and a packet-filtering firewall operate independently of one another. Initially, incoming packets are processed by the Zenarmor engine. If the engine permits them to pass, they are then processed by the L4 firewall platform, such as OPNsense or pfSense, on which Zenarmor is operating. Outgoing packets, conversely, are initially processed by your L4 firewall. When the packet-filtering firewall grants access to the outgoing packets, the Zenarmor engine proceeds to analyze them. In order to be permitted through, a network communication must not violate any rule specified on either the L4 firewall or Zenarmor. Here's the current format as an example: Voucher Format: Username: Gj54b# Password: v&Td4s I'm interested in simplifying this format, perhaps by using just a voucher number or even by combining the username and password into a single numeric code. Is it feasible to use only numeric codes for authentication? Your input on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Danke für kleine Anleitung. Was ersetzt den Zenarmor? Ubound DNS und Proxy? Wenn es noch parallel dazu läuft, das ist eine Performance Problem. Ich habe auf meine nicht billige opnsense alle Blacklist aktiviert, danach stürzt permanent Unbound DNS und nimmt ClamAV Dienst mit 😢
