Evan Tsai i can play this on a Double Bass tuned in Fifths (Solo Cello part an Octave lower) because I find Fifths tuning ideal for repertoire that was originally not written for Double Bass.

Correct. If my eyes are correct, I believe this is the famous Karr-Koussevitzky bass, named after two bass players that owned it and are very prominent in the bass community. As for why it doesn't have the traditional tailpiece, I'm not quite sure.

@chrollium6111 if I am correct I believe that if you are a member of the international society of basses you can arrange to have the “karr-Koussevitzky bass” shipped to you for performances

I mean as a cellist I feel the cello is to bass as viola is to violin. Different yet so similar in ability

@@yaboijabibi3490 I don’t think so, the bad is tuned in fourths and the notes are very far apart on the fingerboard compared to the others

@@yaboijabibi3490 not really, as a bassist the cello is actually quite hard for me, it’s confusing because of the difference in tuning but similarity in how it’s played, but when I switch over to violin it’s like a completely different thing to the point where I can play both violin and bass with getting the two confused
