I always knew the M line was more advanced, but I keep finding myself drawn to the Barnack models. I just bought a 1953 iiif without the timer, but with a 5cm Summicron and I have had a blast using it. I told myself I would never cave to the Leica hype, but now I get it

Hey, Loved this informative video🙌! I'm not really sure if it is the best time to ask but, I was wondering if I could help you create a better distribution by working on post-production like better storytelling through Edits, Keywords, think catchy intros and outros, or even some engaging short clips! Would love to chat if you're interested.

Your Canon A-1 has the infamous "Canon Cough" and needs to have the mechanics lubricated in the mirror housing. I had mine fixed with a typical CLA. Just FYI :)

Turn the outer (Grey) knob clockwise to about number 4. That is a 4mm length stitch.

Thank you for taking the time to make such an instructive video. I recently bought one in a market in France for about 10 Euros. The reason I purchased it was to use the 50mm lens on my K3 DSLR. However, having seen your video I am going to purchase some LR44 batteries and see if I can fire it up and have a go at film.

Hi Kay, have you shot any photographs with this camera? I've recently picked one up and as 112 film is no longer being produced I'm unsure how to shoot it. Do you know if using 4x5 film sheets would work? I like the larger format postcard images rather than a panoramic 120 effect. Thanks.
@MrKayFisherАй бұрын
For film, I am afraid you are out of luck. Sorry. Mine is only a decoration.
@petercastell445021 күн бұрын
Firstly have you checked the bellows for pinhole light leaks? you need adapters to load 120 film and will have to make guide plates to support the narrower film if you want to keep the original aspect ratio you could make an aperture plate this would mean the guide numbers on the film are not correct to overcome this get the backing paper from a roll of 120 and practice advancing the 'film' by counting the number of turns needed be bit generous with the spacing

Sorry follow-up question: what kind of colours would u get if you don‘t put an Infrared lense in?
@MrKayFisherАй бұрын
If you don't put an infrared lens on the front it will be almost a normal camera - I think. You need the infrared lens to limit the camera from picking up the visible light.

So I have replaced the battery, but when I press the battery test button the light doesn't turn on. Is it possible that the bulb has gone out? if so is there another way to test the battery?
@MrKayFisherАй бұрын
Anything is possible. I would Google "Nikkormat repair."
@terrywbreedloveАй бұрын
Mine is the same but it works perfectly otherwise. Like when in A mode it will select different shutter speeds to match the light and makes good exposures. So I am guessing the little light isn't working which isn't a problem.

Thank you for this well detailed video. I wanted to ask, how do you set the neural knob for the type of film? I am having trouble figuring this out. I would like to use color film but it is set to the black and white type.
@MrKayFisher2 ай бұрын
1st is important that you know - the ASA/ISO setting and the film type know is just a reminder. It doesn't do anything to the camera. You turn the ASA knurled knob and place your ASA setting opposite the little dot that indicates your file type. Color or Black and White. The 3 film type dots do not move. The ASA knurled knob only moves around them. The two little black dots are indentations for a spanner wrench for taking the camera apart.

Operator error. You are supposed to use soft hobby wood with this. Balsa or basswood. I'm not surprised it broke the way you were forcing it to cut when it couldn't possibly cut that hard wood.
@MrKayFisher2 ай бұрын
Actually, the directions do say hardwood as well as softer woods. And for what it's worth I did do some softer wood on the lathe off camera before this video and it flopped around and snapped off my fixture on the left hand side that is the driver.

I think it's a missed opportunity in this country. We have few young people with hands on skills due to politicians outsourcing all our manufacturing jobs out of the country and replacing them with burger king.

Teflon tape on loose mast joint and boom fitting. Also Teflon tape on mast base to eliminate wear when swiveling. The Cunningham isn’t legal for racing. That grommet is to hold the mast pocket together and will easily rip out if pulled tight. Colored electrical tape works great to add color on hull and deck. Don’t stretch the tape and it stays in well.
