Pojedynek Daniela Olbrychskiego jako Kmicic i pulkownika Wolodjowskiego przeszla do historii kina tym bardziej ,ze aktorow trenowal sam Michal Zablocki

4:21 one of the most famous line from the movie _"Just finish it, sir (finish me off, sir)! Spare me the shame!"_ Kmicic understood that he was completely helpless in the face of Wołodyjowski's advanced fencing skills, and that Wołodyjowski was intentionally humiliating him in front of the gathered crowd. Therefore, he asked Wołodyjowski to end the duel by delivering the decisive blow. It was precisely for this reason, to spare himself further shame, that he uttered the words: "Finish it, sprare me the shame." He chose almost certain death over further humiliation.

Generally, Geralt himself, his best friend the horse, his difficult personality , very difficult childhood and life experience and the syndrome knight with good heart in a darwinian world are to a large extent a personification of Poland's and difficult history in fantasy world. Sapkowski himself has very big historical knowledge and did it subconsciously

@wilkomirgrey9889 I'm talking about a couple of moments in the Stone Heart DLC. For ex before the fight vs Olgierd they're talking about a rain like in the movie.

@@Cypher-sn3bt I know Olgierd is a direct reference to a nobleman from the times of this movie .

@@Cypher-sn3bt There is lot of reference in Olgield and his band to Kmicic etc. Kimicic and his history in this movie was also strongly inspired by military units such as Lisowczycy etc.

Kmicic couldn't have possibly reacted to the last cut to the head. So, Wolodyjowsky really was holding back the entire time? He could've just killed him in one second? What a badass.

The little colonel was reputed to be the best swordsman in Poland at the time, although there were other celebrated swordsmen he never met. Living in SE Poland at that time meant you were either using that sword regularly, or you were in the ground.

I often wondered the way of the world each culture to their own in each country, esp with swords, weather it was for titles or breaking the embargoes for for trade . Even then after the battle with your opponent he was gracious to offer aid, being a spiritual man. Any weapon is dangerous in the wrong hands, even empty hands. Are we cultured ? in a sense we are , using swords, to deliver that message may well be a last stop solution. Life is precious.
