That’s a big reason I hate sm they don’t let their idols apologize, chenle tried to apologize more than once but sm kept deleting his apology, taeyong apologized on live once and before uploading the replay they cut it out, and there have been many other sm artists that have had their apology deleted. The best they can do is delete the post if it was on their acc (like tiktok, insta, etc.) or wait till it blows over if it was in a comeback Though some of them don’t seem to learn from their mistakes if it was something they personally did and continue to do, that isn’t something I can really “defend”

on behalf of korean kpop fans and koreans in general, i am so sorry. i have studied for quite a while now about other cultures and their histories, and i understand how certain aspects of culture are incredibly important to certain ethnicities, regions, religions, etc. that’s why i am so careful in what i do and say when i do certain things pertaining to a certain culture. for example, when i learned english, i made sure i understood its origins and how it was able to spread the way it did. i wanted to understand it before i learned it. even though i learned the united kingdom’s version of english, i still went as far as to learn the history of america since i wanted to understand certain american terms/words. that’s when i learned english slurs and i have never felt worse about learning the origins of the n word. i remember feeling so disgusted when i learned its meaning, yet a lot of koreans still don’t know what it means because they never teach us in school about this sort of thing. we never learned about american culture or events that can be considered “insignificant” to our country. that’s why koreans may never truly understand other cultures of people we never really understand unless it’s implemented into our education system. that’s also probably why korean fans can get so defensive over their favourite groups: they don’t understand what the certain cultural aspects mean to certain people so, when people get upset, they take it as hatred when in reality, people just want an apology so they can forgive the celebrity and help them learn and grow. we’re ignorant in a lot of things, and, in korea, it so happen to be the place where we lack knowledge in is other cultures. i know how bad it can hurt when someone takes your culture and uses it as their own without even knowing where it came from. you don’t understand how many times i’ve cried seeing others appropriate our culture. that’s why i feel for you and other black kpop fans. i know what it feels like to have your culture ripped away from you and being used as mockery, fashion, etc. it hurts, especially when you look up to some of these idols. for the emotional pain some of my fellow koreans have caused you and others, i am sorry. i really want my country to learn why we shouldn’t do certain things or wear something that doesn’t belong to us without understanding it first. it’s going to take a long time before korean understands these things, but we just have to work on it together at an international level. we need to see eye to eye and try to understand each other before making any progress. i want my country to see how by doing certain things relating to culture can severely affect others. i just wanted to let you know that i really do hope you know that you’re loved. i know it hurts so much when people just take your culture and mock it or use it as their own, but you and others have got to stay strong and teach people why doing these things is wrong. if you get hate comments in this video, ignore them. don’t even reply. let them sit there and be lost in time. to anyone else who reads this: i dont care if you’re black, white, hispanic, or whatever you may be, you’re beautiful and no one has the right to mock your culture and make you feel awful. i am so sorry that my country does the things it does; we’re ignorant when it comes to others’ culture. i’ve been going on for a while so i will stop here. have a wonderful new year :)

After that incident, the members and especially Soyeon; They looked very sad and sorry in the programs that appeared, their only way of indirectly apologizing was saying; "Thank you for supporting us, I will work hard to be a better person", as they could not apologize because of their company. I'm not trying to excuse myself, but I just wanted you to know the truth about the other side of the coin. ♡♡♡

Well said!! I knew most of these already but some of them like the artist getting paid a measly 60 was shocking. However with the locs situation I don’t think they have the power to choose whether or not they have to wear it, as their stylists make most of those choices. But yes if they could recognize the meaning and cultural appropriation that would speak volumes. Maybe the stylists should be held accountable as well or whoever makes that decision. SM needs to wake up fr. Same with Blackpink and any other time an idol wore locs. (For the most part) I don’t know if they have much of a choice as it’s more of the company’s power. i understand where you’re coming from but in like lisa’s or hongjoong’s case i don’t think it’s them. they most likely didn’t choose to wear them, it’s probably someone in the styling team. i don’t see it as their fault for now as we don’t know who chose their hairstyle and as most companies don’t let idols dress themselves for the most part i think it’s most likely the stylist.

👏🏾👏🏾We as black people are the blueprint of many things in different culture. 95% of Kpop is based on black music and culture but we're mocked and hated. The biggest problem is our culture and things that we cherish, they dont respect us but if a black artist rocked something of Korean culture and heritage it would be horrible (and wrong). For me, the labels behind them dont care how they disrespect black people and most of these "artist" have zero voice (which still has me confused on how so many follow their every word). Now some idols are trying to be better and appeal to all cultures respectfully and it shows, and then there is the ones who as you see will on peak in their own country.
