The "Red Fog" setting makes the Aliens absolutely useless as soon as they take damage and really removes any challenge to playing on "Impossible" difficulty.

Late but :), I believe the reason you got an US soldier is that you always get a soldier in your first squad from your starting country.

I'm rewatching your series out of nostalgy, and I can say that... well, it appears that aliens did conquer Russia, XCOM or not :(

I've been testing out Automated Threat Assessment, it bugs out with rapid reaction according to the character screen and the enemy actions. You do not lose the 15 defense if your first rapid reaction shot hits, not only that but ATA triggers again and it has now +30 defense until end of turn if the overwatch isn't dropped by a miss or all RR are spent. the +15 RR defense seems to remains the next turn too until you move I think it stacks if you go on overwatch again on the spot without shooting anything. You have to plan carefully if you want to abuse it though. Given this Opportunist would the perk to pick here, since it drastically increases the change maintain the ATA defense through the turn and gain the extra RR 15 defense.

I'm rewatching this series in May 2022 just because it was so enjoyable! 1 death per mission (2 rookies and a shiv) for the first 3 missions and only 3 missions in the first 18 days of the campaign - I would have rage quit so hard by now.🤣 That's why Faleg is the best!

Guys, my rapid-fire doesn't apply shredder upon the first shot. Is this a bug or is it supposed to be like this? I leveled up my shogun in later game, so I figured it would be my weapon for sectopods. I wanted to be able to move and hit twice so i chose rapid fire over light them up. I still think it is better option, but I'd get defense on master sargent level, had I knew rapid fire doesn't shred on first shot. Great tutorials though!

I don't think there's any way to restrict only to infantry class, is there? I want to buff the battle rifle (+1 ammo and no aim penalty) but restrict it to infantry as part of a buff for infantry.

95% of cases, using rapid fire will have a bigger chance of killing an enemy than a normal shot. If you have 65% to hit, rapid fire will give you 75% to hit with at least one shot

Rapid fire isn't that great. The good part about it is that it works with run and gun. The bad part is that it's such a waste on crit assaults. A crit assault can very often blue move into At least one flank and kill two targets with 2 shots. What are you going to use rapid fire for? Overkilling a muton negating all of the crit shenanigans? I guess it's good against mecs and especially cyberdiscs because hit and run can't target cyberdiscs. Its also good when you don't get to flank or shoot at flying floaters. In an assault focused squad I would have my fastest assault with hit and run and the slower assaults with rapid fire, since the more hit and runs you have the worse they become.

"1 in a million chance" No it was specifically a one in 4 chance. If you take 4 25% shots you will hit one on average. Volume of fire is a valid strategy and you miss 100% of shots you don't take
