Classic and so retro, I had one of these in the early 90's I collected it from the yard of Edwards' the fairground showmen of Swindon Wiltshire. Lovely looking machine that was destined for the skip. I later sold my See Saw along with other arcade machines I'd collected in the late 80's and early 90's. Wish had my collection again now. Great to see this game again and to learn of it's history. Thanks 👍

Wow, great place to pick up one of these machines! I agree, so many were destined for the skip...I remember many being thrown out myself (also rides such as the Peter Pan train ride...gutting memories!) Yes, there are absolutely some machines I wish I had kept and not sold on too. If we could step back in time with what we know now, hey! 😉

Hello from California USA! My husband and I are now going to make one of these for our big school carnival. What does a “mouse” look like, the weight and do you grease the run? What weight hammer do you find works best? Last, do you have specs for making a Big striker as well? Our rental company is now charging us $400 to rent them for 2 hours and that’s not sustainable vs making quality ones. Beautiful work!
@amusementsrevisited2 ай бұрын
Hi there and thanks for the lovely comments! Delighted I can try and help with the Striker build videos! The mouse, is a small piece of cast iron which wraps snugly around the runner (secured onto the back board), we have a video all about it, so if you whizz through them, you'll see it in detail. I've never really bothered greasing the run, but I would imagine they'd be no harm in it, especially if you'd like to make the game play easier. Unfortunately I don't have specs for the Bigger Striker, as I've never really sat down to make one with keeping this info in mind, but I have seen a few of our subscribers making them, perhaps if any of them read this they'll happily tag on a reply! Lots of luck!

@@amusementsrevisited Wow! Fantastic restoration I have to say it looks so much better than it did before. Before it looked all sad and almost abandoned it's such a shame these days there's not so many of these in arcades although now you sometimes see them in old penny arcade machines. The hand and feet buttons remind of an old puppet machine called Peppy The Clown where you control the clown's arms and legs whilst he sings I think there's plenty of videos of that machine on KZbin I think it's made by Williams.
@amusementsrevisited6 ай бұрын
@@HarryYT22 Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I agree, it's sad not seeing these old puppet shows around seaside resorts anymore...they need to come back into fashion. It's funny you say that, my thought was Williams, because the stencil on the side was very reminiscent of pinball designs and similar colours too. Also Zelda had mentioned Williams did the Peppy the Clown and those buttons are definitely the same. I'd love to think it was a Williams machine, that lost it's way somewhere.

This video appeared in my recommended list and wow what a treat, long story short i worked on the travelling fairs in the 90's and my boss had to go to the Showmans yard Edwards' of Swindon we were collecting some fairly modern fruit machines for the travelling arcade and at the same time in the shed was some older games collecting dust i think destined for the skip 😮 I asked if i could possibly have one of these games and i took with us See Saw as in your video here. Not seen one since mine, regrettably i sold a small collection of arcade machines that i built up as a teenager later on including See Saw. Thanks for the memories and what a grand looking arcade you have 😀 Subscribed too 👍

Thank you for your wonderful comments, we're so lucky Chris is a fairground artist by trade, so all our attractions look beautiful. I don't know how he puts up with me, telling him what to build! 😂 Chris said he think a lot of Edwards' machines went to Dingles. You have exactly Chris' taste in machine, he wanted the See Saw, I love the old Allwins (ironically I'm 9 years younger than Chris..but an old soul!) *lol*. I can well see why you miss your machines and they're ridiculously hard to get back now too. *sob*. Thanks so much for subscribing; very much appreciated!
@CoolhandLuke5527 ай бұрын
@@amusementsrevisited Thanks for your reply very interesting to learn alot of Edward's old games machines ended up at Dingles that makes sense with the fairground rides there. I miss my machines so much especially seeing similar versions on KZbin. I had a Sega Space Trek cocktail space invaders, see saw, a bally 2p Cascade Star bandit and several old 80s Jpm Bell Fruit machines and Jamma video cabinets in the bedroom and in the garage when at home with my parents. It's when I went travelling with fair at 16yo I sold all the machines as my parents were moving downsizing property. To see the value of these machines is astonishing but it's not the money just wish had them all back now. Again lovely to see your arcade and the traditional fairground artwork is a real talent 👍

Thank you! Yes, we're in the midst of opening an in situ arcade and shocked at the prices of machines, especially the old working models, fortune teller machines and cranes! It's funny you say that as we did discuss putting a voice box in, but liked the sound of the creaking arms and drop of the coin more, which we felt more atmospheric. Hi, I want to build a set, I am a Joiner by Trade so not a problem to me, just wondering what timber yours are made of and are the Boats made of Marine Ply, the only thing I can see might take a bit of thinking about is the profile of e Boats, getting it wrong would be expensive, making a pattern is the obvious solution, but getting the scale right, mmm! any tips from yourselves, it would be great to get hold of a pattern from someone, hiny, hint thanks in advance
@amusementsrevisited10 ай бұрын
Sorry for delay replying, you could well have sorted it by now. Yes, I used Marine Ply and the legs are Douglas Fir (I think) and the top beam Oak (quite the Heinz 57!) Regarding patterns, Doug Roseman Engineering does scaled patterns for Swingboats, maybe worth a shot. Thanks for watching; much appreciated.
