I love the B727. I flew all versions over 4 years. Both converted freighters and VVIP versions. Amazing aircraft.

I flew as a 727 flight engineer at American Trans Air out of Chicago Midway airport. It's an awesome airplane! It was an awesome company to work for. Before flying the 727, I was a C-5 Lockheed Galaxy flight engineer for 11 years with the Air Force Reserve at the 433rd MAW at KELLY AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Both aircraft were a blast to be an engineer on. I miss them both!

Miss those planes. It always looks like they had to be wrestled to the ground.

They did not. That plane was a joy to fly. I consider myself very lucky.

A short haul for such a thirsty bird. A slingshot flight, but on the best airline in the sky at that time.

That trip is so short, roughly 30 min in today's traffic, that hand flying the whole trip is best. The F/E probably had the landing TOLD card ready before take off! Yeah, those days are long gone, never to return. Crews having fun flying an airplane. That's gone too! Great video, thanks

Last time I rode as a passenger on a 727 was Piedmont from Charlotte to LA. The pilot was standing at the door thanking everyone for taking Piedmont & I said it seems the 727 was disappearing. He said I was right. Most airlines were getting rid of them due to high fuel consumption and noise. Said he began with Piedmont on a piston Martin 404 then to jets. Talk about noise. I rode 404's & the roar was LOUD! But this was 1988. He is probably retired now & maybe worked for USAir for awhile.

Those three Pilot's were SO LUCKY to fly that "Piece of Aviation Treasure!" These were the Aviation days, JT8D's everywhere and DC-9-10's - 737-200's and 727's EVERYWHERE! You're lucky to see 727's once a year, MAYBE, and 737-200's and DC-9's as well. Delta does have DC-9-51's but they are getting rid of them in 2013, that is going to be the day where aviation in my world will come to an end. I will always keep my dream as being an Airline pilot. but the airplane I wanted to fly will be gone....

This 727 video brings back memories of flyng on PSA in the mid 1980's. Thank you for posting this awsome video of Captain Barney and his crew flying this beautiful airplane. I love the old analog cockpits and the 727 was always a favorite of mine. This was a time when real airplanes were in the skies. Times sure have changed.

Sweet video. It was a maintenance ferry. GSO was Piedmont's major maintenance base for awhile. I think someone still has the hangar today, even. My father worked for them for 30 years at KLEX. Wished they were back too. It was a sweet airline. I flew jumpseat on 737's several times thanks to dad knowing the crew.
