I was definitely impressed with the arm hook and how it enhanced the overall underhook, but then that counter at the end surprised me and I did end up questioning the original point of the video. I think that was just that well done and a great way of feeding and borrowing energy with what little control was left/trying to be regained. That was a great exchange from both players!

@JansTaiChi11 күн бұрын
@@gargoyle5701 Tai Chi Push Hands is the science of pushing, pulling and space control. Think of it as foundational bridging for grappling and takedown techniques. Essentially, we are training the moments in between techniques, which then enhances the other systems you may train. For example, the players in this video are from BJJ and wrestling, and both are removing those weapons they are formally trained in to practice this foundational bridging system to enhance their games.

What is the purpose of this exercise? what does it improve? because by the looks of it you are just pushing each other around.
@JansTaiChi2 ай бұрын
Hi Boris, thanks for this question. Tai Chi Push Hands (Taiji Tuishou) is 1/3 of the Tai Chi system. It is comprised of several 2-person sensitivity drills that strengthen and increase the flexibility of both practitioners. Since Tai Chi is similar to “time under tension” in weightlifting, the slower you go, the stronger and more aware of your musculature you become. Additionally, once you gain some proficiency in the drills, practitioners branch out to more freestyle balance games that can evolve to the sport of Tai Chi World Cup Style Push Hands, which looks similar to Greco-Roman and Sumo with similar, albeit friendlier rules. What you’re watching is one of those trestle balance games. The skills players train here are applicable to all martial arts and athletic disciplines. Thanks for watching. 🙏☯️💪
