Soy una estudiante de dirección coral en argentina donde mi examen final de la carrera será dirigiendo esta Misa y me es muy útil el video. Muy hermosa versión.

Palestrina’s sublime music conveys a feeling for the transcendent. A truly beautiful performance of a piece depicting the soul’s longing for God

Such a fantastic tempo. My teacher, the late Carmen-Helena Téllez (who taught at IU for decades), always said, "tempo is affect." The deer is pining for the stream, as the soul is yearning for the Holy One. This tempo, IMHO, depicts that. It's become fashionable to speed this motet up, with the justification that the divisions of the breves would have meant a faster tempo back in the day. Who cares. Bravi!

The tempo must accord to the space in which the piece is sung. Also, how many singers are there, to carry it.

Why the natural in the tenor part at 2:54? Did you not notice, or could you not correct it?

some scores have it written that way. It's one of those pieces where I believe it can be done either way

Beautiful voices...good balance, blend, diction with good attention to dynamics. Just need to control the vibrato in some places; otherwise, an 'excellent' performance.

Having sung with Rutter and chamber groups for 35+ years, this interpretation is flawless. The voicing is magnificently well balanced. Thanks for not rushing tough it and letting each word melt into the other without sounding sloppy. Bravo!!

2:09 the organ part sneaks in a bit from the "Cat Jeoffrey" section of Britten's famous cantata, Rejoice in the Lamb.

Britten wrote this pieces at the request of the late Duke in 1961. It was composed specifically for St George's Chapel, where the Duke's funeral service was held.

Very good the “incipit”, where each section enters the mood of this fantastic composition with a very “discreet” and quiet approach, to my opinion what was in Palestrina’s mind...
I think you've got the right tempo: not too fast nor too slow; the voices are very good, and the most important, they have good breath control, which is difficult to achieve in these works. The intensity of the composition is great, although some parts lack some contrast. I really think you've done a very nice job! Cheers to the choir and director!
