10:40 How can CXL over PCIE5 provide bandwidth expansion for DDR5 at 4.8 GT/s? CXL over PCIE5 transmits 63 GB/s over a link with 16 lanes where that that each lane consists of 2 (differential) wires in each direction. So CXL transmits 3.95 Gb/s of data in each direction on a "per wire" basis. DDR5 can transmits 4.8 Gb/s total, but it can be used all for reads, all for writes, or anything in between. So, CXL over PCIE5 is not fast enough to avoid becoming a bottleneck if used for DRAM bandwidth expansion. A "precious" pin on a CPU/GPU is better used for directly attached DDR5 DIM bandwidth. Is there a plan that a CPU or GPU can have an optical link to a CXL repeater or switch chip, where the optical connection is much faster? Or something similar, in order to get bandwidth expansion over CXL?

Deprecate "Human Resources" to "Personnel" and attend to your core business. Cut the DEI crap and stick to engineering.
