I'm not a musician, but this fascinates me--the music sounds so damn ODD. Sounds like two sources fighting for control--the melody sounds like it's trying to peel away from the strings/brass.

Yes, Tubby Hayes was great, but unknown in the United States. Quincy Jones was great as well. What an incredible composer, arranger.

Tubby Hayes, was the guy on Sax. Tubby was from England. He was an incredible Sax player, Quincy Jones worked with some of the best musicians in the world.

"Come Maddalena" is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable and memorable compositions created by the legendary composer Ennio Morricone for the 1971 film that bears the same name, Maddalena. This piece has become a defining work in Morricone's extensive repertoire, showcasing his unique ability to capture emotion and depth through music.

I watched this in 1988 in England. For years it was forgotten, but it's even more relevant now, with all the genetic god-playing that's going on.

A very sensitive and beautiful score from a very sensitive and beautiful little film. Paul Newman at this point in his career was probably the last director you would expect to have this kind of sensitivity. I believe he directed only one other picture, "The Effects of Gama Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds," and then back to big budget business as usual.

Yes looks like it. I just listened to the Bananarama tune there now. There may be a similarity in a couple of notes in progression but I would say its completely coincidental, thats about it to my ears anyway. Thanks for taking back to the 80's, good times.

Ennio Morricone possesses a unique style that is remarkably original in the way he composes his music. His distinctive approach to music composition sets him apart from others in the industry.

The melody hook certainly borrows from Mancini's 'Moon River', but still a cool theme. Thanks for posting this.

@@vampyros1 I suppose one hears what they more or less want and expect to hear. Personally, I would never equate this to Mancini’s composition except in the most vague fashion.
