Does anyone know what tuning this is in? It sounds different when u play it open G but it could be my lack of skill.

I get major ear chubs every time I listen to your songs. I learned them on guitar a while back, and I just recently picked up banjo, so I learned them on banjo too. They're all fun songs to sing and play every now n then, thanks 🙏

I'm in my forties now, and this song throws in sharp relief how misspent my twenties were.

I've never written lyrics before, but I figured it could be fun. [INTRO] My sweet love sing me a song, girl's grief is heavier than lead When I woke up this morning it was thoughts of you that haunted my head And I think about the way your down-and-out smile would light up the room like a burning trash pile keep those match boxes burning 'cause I'm not ready to say goodbye [Bridge] And I'll write you a sad song for those minor chords that ring in your bones But I'll fill it with majors and sevenths 'cause I know you're not alone [Chorus] Ain't gotta worry 'bout your soul being saved, 'cause if they sent you to heaven you'd just sit outside and spange And I ain't gotta worry if you're doing well; I know you're bumming rides off sinners and I still hear you yelling Roll me through them gates of hell [Verse] I have lost two dear friends in the span of one single year I'll be waiting in the trainyard just hoping that you reappear I see an old dog running, hear a mandolin strumming, and it brings me to tears Who's gonna teach me words write down in ??? ??? (north blood?) now that you're not here Wish the world would ??? (no clue) you and me ??? (when?) the end is so damn near (I'm gonna be honest, I have almost no idea what was said in this line) [Bridge] Won't remember you as a ghost We'll sing your songs On the streets of Olympia, Boulder, and Birmingham Emptier now that you're gone [Chorus] Ain't gotta worry if your soul's being saved, 'cause if they sent you to heaven, you'd just catch a train And I ain't gotta worry if you're doing well; I know you're bumming rides off sinners and I still hear you yelling Roll me through them gates of hell Harder than I thought it would be. I honestly have no clue about some of those words. Still, getting like 99% of them ain't bad for a first try. Edit: Thanks to the guy below me for the suggestions. I took most of them, but a few I still could absolutely not hear. I'm sure their probably right, but I just can't hear it.

Thanks. I've been listening to the album, and I couldn't make out "down and out smile". I thought it was "dandelion" or "candlelight" but neither sounded quite right. As for the ones you had trouble with: "'Cause grief is heavier than lead" (not "girl's grief") "I'll write you a sad song with those minor chords that ring in your bones" "I'd fill it with majors and sevenths cause I know you're not alone" "You'd just sit outside and spange" (Spange is a portmanteau of "spare" and "change"; Spange means asking for spare change, basically panhandling) "I've lost two dear friends" "Wolf dog running" "Who's gonna teach me the words to 'Head Down in North Platte' now that you're not here?" "Wish the world had warned you that the end was so damn near" "We'll remember you as a ghost. We will sing your songs on the streets of Olympia, Boulder, and Birmingham" The rest was spot on. Great job. Thanks.

@@endlessdissent640 Ha! Dang... Btwn "Spange" and "Head down in North Platte", I would'a never guessed. Thanks for comments, both of y'all. I enjoy playing this song on my banjo every now and again. Those were two parts I always mumbled thru 😂 (I play more of a Scruggs style version, never sounds as good as they do. Still fun thou.)

Just passed the one-year anniversary of the death of my friend who introduced me to modern hobo culture. I have deeply fond memories of drunkenly trying to play along to them singing "Worn" on a pump organ in a closed bar at 2AM, and another friend of mine tabbed this out so we could play it together at our little memorial bonfire. I don't know if this will reach any of you three, but thank you so much for this song. It's been a balm on that particular old wound.

When i met you I was drowning in a bottle so down and low. When I poured out my whiskey your love made my cup overflow. Your pointed finger tips Are needles ()()() under my skin. They keep me ()()()()() Date It's hard on my body You'll always be here with me. We got caught up in the stories that jealous people spin. We cornered each other like cobwebs in the attic we lived in. Working on these lyrics from just listening to it over and over again.

U guys are by far the best musicians I have ever heard. U inspire me. Your harmonies are so beautiful that I want to come to America and marry U. If U will have me. All the others (Eric Clapton, Jimmie Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac) are in your shadow. As a guitarist U have pushed me higher. I love U guys (I am in love with U girl. WILL U MARRY ME IF I CAME TO AMERICA ? Yes / No ?) 😍
