*The essence of VEGANISM can be dated back to the philosophy of AHIMSA DHARMA which stretches back to more than 6,000 years on the Indian subcontinent.* *Veganism has a long history dating back to the early days of civilization. Particularly in India, the idea of AHIMSA (non-violence) was a basic tenet of human society. Animals were respected and protected; kings were known as the protectors of the people, including the animals.* *Although the term “VEGAN” wasn't used until the 1940s, the concept can be traced back to ancient Indian and Eastern Mediterranean societies. According to The Vegan Society, evidence of people choosing to avoid the consumption and use of animal products can be traced back over 6,000 years.* *Ahimsa is an important idea in several prominent religions originating India including Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. Ahimsa is also a term used to describe the traditional (non-violent) Vegan diet of ancient India that was taught by Lord Siddhartha 'Buddha' Gautama and many other religious teachers and scriptures.* *One doesn’t have to be a FOLLOWER of ANY of these RELIGIONS to BELIEVE in AHIMSA or to PRACTICE AHIMSA. Anyone who is a VEGAN is ACTUALLY PRACTICING AHIMSA, because AHIMSA means KINDNESS and NON-VIOLENCE towards ALL LIVING THINGS.* *In the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Hindu text, it states, “Ahimsa is a quality belonging to godly men endowed with divine nature.” Mahavira, a prominent Jain, said, “A wise person does not kill any living being.” Ahimsa is seen as one of Jainism’s most essential principles. Jains go out of their way to not harm even the tiniest insect. Similarly, Buddhists have always condemned the killing of living beings. Ahimsa is the first of 5 precepts of morality taught in Buddhism Yamas.* *1. AHIMSA (NON-VIOLENCE)* Ahimsa can be interpreted as: not physically harming others, ourselves, or nature; not thinking negative thoughts about others or ourselves; and making sure that what we do and how we do it is done in harmony, rather than causing harm. *2. SATYA (TRUTHFULNESS)* Satya is truthfulness, but it’s more than just telling the truth. The word ‘sat’ literally translates as ‘true essence’ or ‘unchangeable’. Our thoughts, emotions and moods are interchangeable, yet these are the things that create our own truth. In yoga we work on creating a little space so that we can realise that we are not just our thoughts. *3. ASTEYA (NON-STEALING)* Asteya means ‘non-stealing’, but like the other Yamas and Niyamas, it means so much more that that. Asteya arises from the Vritti (thoughts/fluctuations of the mind) - ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I don’t have enough’. It arises from the lack of faith in ourselves. The word yoga means ‘to yoke’, ‘unite’, ‘connect’, or essentially to become ‘whole’, so by practicing each aspect of yoga on and off the mat, we can move further towards feeling as though we already have enough, and we already are enough within ourselves. *4. BRAHMACHARYA (MODERATION of the SENSE/RIGHT USE of ENERGY)* Brahmacharya is often translated as ‘celibacy’ - and is often considered irrevelant in our modern culture. The word Brahmacharya actually translates as ‘behaviour which leads to Brahman’. Brahman is thought of as ‘the creator’ in Hinduism and yogic terms. So Brahmacharya can be seen as ‘right use of energy’. It refers to directing our energy away from external desires and instead, towards finding peace and happiness within ourselves. *5. APARIGRAHA (NON-GREED)* Aparigraha - ‘non-greed’, ‘non-possessiveness’, and ‘non-attachment’. This important Yama teaches us to take only what we need, keep only what serves us in the moment and to let go when the time is right. More recently, Mahatma Gandhi was a great exponent of ahimsa, saying, “The way to truth lies through AHIMSA.” 🪬 *AHIMSA PARAMO SANATAN DHARMA* 🪬 *(Non Violence against all Living Beings is the Highest Moral Virtue throughout Eternity)* *JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY and ISLAM have passages about nonviolence towards animals in their scripture. For Jews, the Talmud (Avodah Zorah 18B) forbids not only hunting but also even associating with hunters. In Hebrews 10.5-10, it says one of Jesus’ missions was to do away with cruelty to animals and the practice of animal sacrifice. “Thou shalt not kill”, one of the Ten Commandments, is perhaps one of the clearest ways to express the idea of Ahimsa.* *Unfortunately, today, animals are not respected or protected at all by governments. Evidence is seen in the age of factory farms, which emerged only 50 or 60 years ago. Animals on factory farms are subject to cruel and inhumane treatment ending in gruesome and violent slaughter.* *To treat the land with respect, to farm sustainably and organically; to produce foods that are beneficial for people and don’t harm them; to be kind to animals and all living beings, to not eat them: THIS IS AHIMSA.* *Amigo Vegano 4 The Animalo!* *xVGNxPWRx* 🪬☘️💥💚💯💚💥☘️🪬

I am tired of hearing the arguments over white and black and other ethnicity’s, in God’s eyes this is foolish. We are all made in his image and unique and we are made to look different. If we hate anyone for what they look like we are hating God and his love for man. We will not be able to live in heaven if we can not learn to love man in God’s image. Do not love the sin but we can love the sinner, because God died for each man who freely choose Jesus. Amen Stop killing yourself and accept the peace that can come from God who is Jesus.
@sda4ever4 күн бұрын
In the Bible God made for meat every seed for man and animal. There was no death before sin and flesh food was cursed to cause man’s life to be shortened after sin. So to eat a plant based diet is a Christian belief and to follow a healthy diet because we are made in the image of God. Veganism is actually a type of religion that worships nature over the God that created nature. So, there is a difference fundamentally and Veganism is tied to the climate change movement. To eat a plant based diet based on the Bible and moving towards a life in Heaven is biblical. Especially, with the way animals are slaughtered and feed and packaged with blood, it would not be right to consume even the clean meats. Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

If you had to save a cow or a person from drowning, which would you save? It's bcuz the cow is not the same as a person. You can identify with saving the person bcuz the person can have a family, siblings, parents, neighbors, career, and can talk and understand other living people. Just like you. The cow is on the lower end of the spectrum in that you cannot relate to an animal, and the animal invariably cannot have all those aforementioned relatable parts of life that humans generally have. It's understandable to care for all living things but humans have precedence and authority over the animal kingdom. It is immutable. The Lord God said, Let Us make MAN in OUR image. And give them charge over animals on land and sea and air.

You know what? With all these vegan movements, farming industries (those that are making vegetables/fruits) have to produce more vegetables/fruits, but you know who also wants to eat vegetables except people? The answer: animals and bugs. And people are using EVERYTHING to keep them away. Farming industries are killing TONS of insects, snakes, rats, mice and even rabbits to keep the vegetables safe by using chemicals that to kill them. If this isn't enough, here's another one: in the last few years people (not only vegans) started consuming A LOT of avocados, you might think that it's fine BUT NO they are consuming INSANE AMOUNTS OF WATER. But farming industries need space to grow them so it causes MASSIVE DEFORESTATION and as a result MASSIVE quantities of CO2 rejected in atmosphere (say hi to global warming :D ). Oh, also they require transportation from warm zones to the rest of the world AND THIS ALSO RESULTS IN MORE CARBON DIOXIDE. And if you think that massive meat production can be stopped by vegans... NO, IT CAN'T BE STOPPED. These companies need a lot of money and they NEVER gonna close because some group of people don't want animals to die (even if it's a VERY big group). Even if one day cows will be free they'll die, they got used to humans taking care of them. Also, a tiny little side note: if you don't eat meat it can result in health problems. (I don't wanted to offend anyone, I just announcing my point of view. Also I'm sorry for any grammar errors I've made because English isn't my native language)

As a meat eater, well done. Unfortunately though these kinds of farms are seen as the norm, yet its not. So when these types of places exist, they should be pointed out. Especially from a money grabbing charity such as the RSPCA. Sadly many other animal charities are the same. All the presidents and vice presidents of these charities have to take some of the responsibility. it happened under their watch.

Thank you. Even if you are a meat eater, let's work together to help shut down these despicable farms. We think all animal farming is wrong, but we must ensure that the worst ones are closed and the RSCPA cancels their Assured scheme.

@@GenerationVegan_ you may think all animal farming is bad yet I am part of that industry that kills wildlife to protect our arable crops. So the more we plant the more we have to protect. The more we protect wildlife, the more it flourishes the more we have to protect our crops from. So no matter what perspective you come from, life means death and death means life. You cannot have 1 without the other. The millions of lives lost from tree planting is astronomical. 750,000 deer are killed in the UK each year. What would you say we do with those ? We eat them which brings down the amount of livestock needed. If 750,000 deer are killed to protect crops, just think how many rabbits, hare, pigeons, geese, voles, are killed and then think of the animals that may rely upon them for food themselves. If we didn’t farm livestock our wildlife would be in a far worse state than it is now. All that hedging around the UK could be removed as we no longer need enclosures. You could have farms like America where a 1000 acre farm can be just 1 big area. Not good for our wildlife yet no livestock killed.
