The Alliance Gator people specify compaction of the bedding sand (by hand tamping) but in professional installer videos they don't compact the sand. Can anyone explain?

Alliance Gator and Brock both specify compaction of bedding sand but I have not seen any videos from professional installers who do that. What gives?

Obviously the Gator Paver way is going to be faster. The real question is, how are these two patios holding up 5 years later?

Does this gator product work well on a large cement pool deck? It got a lot of efflorescence. I’m not sure if it’s because we wet the cement 5 hours after pour or because we had acid wash on top after the pour??? But yeah it’s pretty white in certain areas Does this work well

I have not bought this product yet, but plan to. When I read the instructions at their website, it says to mix 8 parts water to one part efflorescense remover. It also states that anything stronger will damage your stone or pavers.

Can this be sprayed directly on the existing rock? Stone is 3/4 inch river rock in between Eden stepper stone. Gaps are approximately 2" to 4". Also, would it stain the steppers?

no its a very thick product it's essentially a epoxy resin . it would not be able to be sprayed and diluting it would likley ruin its integrity. any spill should be cleaned up quickly . I found mineral spirts works to clean the tools .

Thanks for the video - how does this polymeric sand hold up (since you cite the cycle of water/drying) for snow that sits on it for months at a time? I'm installing a new patio that will have snow on it for about 3-4 months of the year.

We had to do our 9' x 18' patio of 18" squares separated by +/-3" joints. There were weeds/trees taller than me. We dug out the joints and filled them (+/-3" deep) with polysand, did NOT compact, and flooded them with water a couple times over a couple hours. It took all last summer to do it and about 40 bags of sand. It turned out great, except for the dirt that tends to cling to the top granular surface in places. We have had only a few small weeds so far, but otherwise it has been great. Now we can enjoy seeing and using our patio, even with guests. Next we will be filling open 1/2" joints in our car court. A couple joints that my wife did last year are doing well.
