Thank you for doing this waiata, it unlocked memories I'd forgotten of my dad. He was very much an activist. I really appreciated your korero on the social climate of that time, such good insight

Tena koe Matua. We've been in Sydney since 1982. This is by far the best waiata to come from NZ in my humble opinion. It encompasses the issues of many peoples' and shows them a way forwards. Despite the ravages of Modernity and the advent of Postmodernity and their implications upon our world, New Zealand is in good shape compared with other countries. NZ has aspects of its cultural expression that are able to unite our people. Not everyone is young and free in Australia it seems. How does Australia deal with this. What historic cultural pillars does Australia have to call on. I love Australia and her people as much as I love home. Perhaps because I have 12 tamariki here and 21 mokopuna. I miss home because I think that hope lives there. I say this because of what I've observed. Inside all of us is a warrior. Stan gently and lovingly reminds us, Maori , Pakeha and so on.The world gets to see hear and feel that warrior. Where else do you hear an anthem acknowledging God sung in two tongues. Mean reaction brother 👍. God defend New Zealand 🙏💪🇳🇿

Thank you for your reaction to this. I love this song and all it represents..... We do need to take a stance on what is happening in NZ right now. Turning back to a time of oppression and subjugation is incomprehensible... but that's what they are doing. Shame!!
