The UK radio landscape and legislation has always been ass backwards towards government control and monopolies. Since 1967 and the Marine Offences Act, meant to destroy the offshore pop stations, it's been hell bent on controlling the airwaves like some form of overly paternalistic nanny. One thing the US got completely right (until clinton ruined it in '94) was to encourage local and independent radios and stop large companies from owning too many stations. The result? A booming radio and music landscape for all tastes with massive variety in broadcasting and DJ's who actually became local celebs by being connected to their audience.

I used to listen to this podcast in its previous form as a straight-up podcast - but now I've found myself watching it on KZbin simply because it's occupying my "KZbin time" - that is to say I use KZbin in the evening when I want to consume something that's under 1 hour long, as 1 hour+ drama and the like starts to feel like a commitment I need to make specific time for. Podcasts as a genre are for me more often consumed in the afternoon, and as I know this show is on KZbin, I save it for later.

I've been with your podcast since day one but I have to say the sneering at GB News is becoming more than a little tiresome, not to mention misplaced. Despite the claim to the contrary on this episode today, GB News have had their political correspondents (Chris Hope, Olivia Utley and Katherine Forster) on the campaign bus of all three main parties (Conservative, Labour and Lib Dems) *every* day and occasionally on the Reform open top bus with Farage. The most in depth and informative discussion I've heard anywhere about possible House of Lords reform took place last week between Lord (Danny) Finkelstein and Lord (Maurice) Glassman. It continued for over half an hour and was fascinating. It's obvious you nor any of your guests actually watch the channel, fair enough, but it's not then a good idea to make (false) assumptions about it i.e they may not be able to afford to pay to travel on the campaign buses. One of your guests said "It can't just go on having right wing voices, it must have political balance across the schedule." Go on having? It doesn't just have right wing voices. Political balance? It already does. It's always best to watch something if wishing to dismiss it with any sense of credibility.

And the ideal length of time to be a Tory candidate for? Probably just short of 48 hours.
