Hi Will, It’s a pleasant surprise when that happens! What kind of trouble did you have? My setup was hassle-free.
@Bermondsey_Bill
@Bermondsey_Bill 3 күн бұрын
Hi Johannes, Setup was a bit of a nightmare: 1. It didn't recognise my bluetooth mouse, so I tried multiple mice. No Joy. (Luckily I had an old Logitech Keyboard with track pad and a USB-A to USB-C connector) 2. I could not get past the log-in screen (which other users had issues with too)! The keyboard let me get to the account page, but once the cursor hit the email field, it stopped dead. Every keyboard combination just beeped. Tab, Enter, CTRLs, function keys, even unplugging and reconnecting did not work. 3. The M4 couldn't find my old Mac-mini. Everything on my network could see the M4, but the M4 saw nothing. Everything was set to share too. 4. The M4 was trying to use AFP to connect, which Apple have depreciated??? 5. I couldn't restore from Time-Machine, it said the MacOs was not correct? I gave up and set the M4 Pro up as a new box. All sorted now, and I am happy with my purchase, as you appear to be too! (I opted for the extra ram (64GB), over the SSD (Only got the 512GB) but it is so quiet, and cool to the touch whilst running, I added the 10GB ethernet and the 16 core Neural Engine, as I cannot see myself buying another compute for a few years, so hopefully I am future-proofed.) Best regards, Bill

How is satin finish holding up? I am considering getting this guitar at my local music shop, but the satin finish (though it looks great) is worrying me a little. Is the finish sprayed on pretty good or does it scratch off easily?
@zooesque
@zooesque 3 ай бұрын
Mine is still mint but I've also kept it pretty well. I've heard the lower end tributes, SG faded series etc has had problems with what you mentioned. According to Gibson the satin nitro on the 335 is as thick a finish as the gloss one, only difference is in the amount of buffing it takes to create the gloss finish. So my assumption is the problems have been related to the lower end models

I'm glad you observed how well the reverb blends with the original signal without diminishing its clarity. I've observed some detractors of the BlueSky criticizing how Strymon has a characteristic "sheen" or "flavor" they don't like. Having owned the original BlueSky, as well as many other reverbs (Eventide, Neunaber, TC Electronic, Pigtronix, etc.), and now the BlueSky MX, I think that's nonsense. The BlueSky allows the original (dry) signal to pass through with zero analog-to-digital / digital-to-analog conversions - this is a very rare and great feature of most of Strymon's pedals.
@zooesque
@zooesque 6 ай бұрын
You're on point there. Thanks for your comment and for sharing. I believe the folks at Strymon have put special care in its design to make the original signal come through clear. And it shows. All the best.

@zooesque
@zooesque 9 ай бұрын
Players value old, quality instruments. But it’s not so easy to find them and the prices can be exorbitant. So they make what people want (instruments that feel old) at a lower price point. Hence, relic’ed instruments. This one is more scratched than a usual relic because it wants to resemble the original Flea instrument. Some say when the finish is scratched it affects the instrument’s resonance as well…

@@zooesquesome Pre- CBS Jazz basses (1960-1965) had the reverse tuners and the stack knobs (I don't know why they don't use these now), and, unfortunately, the horrible truss rod access. I got one a couple years ago. I actually called the retailer because I thought he sold me "some Mexican crap" when I realized the tuners were geared opposite! I have never felt more foolish. And there's nothing wrong with a lot of Mexican Fenders. But I got lucky, no twisted neck, no truss rod adjustment needed, and I fricking LOVE this bass. It's off and on my main gigging bass. I also have a P bass, a Rickenbacker 4003, a Stingray, and a German Warwick, and I like this Jazz just as much.

Hi Ron, If you don't have a decent amp, you might want to get one. For example Mark Bass makes decent amps but many could work, it's a good idea to try them out at a local music store before buying. Then after that I tend to use a compressor before the amp so a compression fx pedal is a good addition to your arsenal. Happy bassing, J

Are there different cases for the 335? I'm looking at a new cherry 335 Dot and I'm under the impression it comes with the brown/tan case. Other ads I've seen for new 335s (at least in cherry) show the same brown case instead of the black one you have. Trivial, I know. I just love Gibson's brown cases lol.
@zooesque
@zooesque Жыл бұрын
Yeah there are at least two regular cases for the 335s. Mine is the 'modern' black version and the on you described is a more 'classic' one. Then there's more of a luxury case and one that's extra durable for flights etc. But these two don't come standard. My guess is the satin sunburst looks better with black/black velvet and the cherry looks better with brown/red velvet so they fit those with the corresponding models. Cheers! 🤠
@zooesque

I asked Gibson and they responded: The case type and colour will change based on the version of the 335 and the year of manufacture; it can also be dictated by the ability to source the materials for them.
