Good to see puffins still at around. Did they ever return to Calders Geo ? Seen there early 1990s then disappeared.
@adventure.shetland15 күн бұрын
Yes, they were still at Calder’s Geo and further along the cliffs at Eshaness last year. I’ve not seen any so far this year, but that’s more likely because I’ve been there at the wrong time of day.
@davecooper323815 күн бұрын
@@adventure.shetland Good to hear that. We have been up to Calder’s in the breeding season many times since aprox 1993. Last time 2023. At one time we walked south down to The Bruddens to sing and recite poetry to the seals. But one year used cartridge’s had ended up in crevices on the edge of the cliff. The seal numbers didn’t recover. So after about three years we stayed around the lighthouse area.

great to hear these stories told by you.. thank you! I visited that house between 1978 and 1980 with my dad and his workmates.. they were building the power station in Lerwick and had a day off.. we were in the house up and down the stairs.. some even were on the roof (it was on at that time) and in and out the rooms on the bright sunny day. Lots of photos were taken by various people at the time too.. only when we got back to the power station one of the locals said we shouldn't have gone there as it's haunted to which we poo pooed.. only not one single photo turned out that was taken there!! I actually only found out what the house was called today!!! hence why I was able to see this video.. amazing! The new owners must be bonkers to buy that.. with all it's history!

. I'm still plotting out my itinerary but am very interested in your guide services. I'm accustomed to hiking on my own but have never hiked in such isolated areas as Shetland. I've been forewarned that sudden fogs can leave a hiker confused and lost. And since I have no Smartphone, I have no way to contact authorities except through a cell phone, which doesn't allow me download location apps. So I am considering using your services for some of my outings. I'll be based in Lerwick. Please let me know if you can accommodate one hiker during the early September 2023 time frame. More details to follow.

Please have a look through our website www.adventureshetland.com if you haven’t already, and feel free to get in touch through the contact section there to make more formal arrangements.
