Great video. Have you looked at the Race Keeper 'Road Keeper' unit? Dual full hd cameras and 10hz GPS in a 'dash cam' style mount. You can then download sessions into their 'Comparo' software for full analysis. I've been using mine for casual track days and it's brilliant - most important thing is ease of use and not stuffing around trying to mount the unit in the car and then download and sync video and overlays etc. Only fault is the export engine in the software creates an average bitrate quality video but good enough for social media etc. Worth looking into at some point if you can.

Thank you mate. Draggy was kind enough to send me a unit to test in line with this video so keen to share my thoughts on that

I have the verus carnards, and it made a noticeable difference. I have the triple seven hood louver.

The triple seven hood louver I think is a good item but as a company I cannot ever recommend them to anyone. The experience with the canards has been atrocious

I did the full session flying laps without any cool-downs yesterday since it’s raining. Guess what, my Brian got overheated. Need more fitness training.

Great video! Another tip that helped me was to go slow the first session or two so that you can a feeling of how the track is laid out. If you arent used to the track you may come into a corner way to fast. Also if you are running semi slicks make sure you give them time to warm up. I live in Michigan, USA and there are days where it takes 2 laps to really warm up the tires and days where it seems like its 4.

Great tip Matt! I actually hit the wall first out lap first session because I didn't warm up right!

@@hoistalk What are your honest thoughts on your supra? Is there anything else in the car market you think you would trade your supra in for -minus supercars?
@hoistalk7 ай бұрын
@@mbarna36 that's a great idea for an entire video but in summary I don't think there is anything that I would trade my supra for other than a Porsche GT3 or GT4RS. Once you overcome the fuelling and heating issues the supra is just perfect on the road and the track.

Thanks for taking time out to answer, I really appreciate it. I started off building a 2015 sti for the track (only suspension,tires,brakes), kinda wanted something different and bought a 2007 c6 z06 for a short time but sold it and was looking at potentially buying a supra. Not sure if i want to switch over to automatic but both the manual and automatic look like they would be great cars.@@hoistalk

@@mbarna36 my pleasure, we unfortunately don't have any corvettes in Australia but the supra is incredibly capable and I won't be surprised if it will be faster than the z06 with some basic modifications. The zf8 speed gearbox is amazing and on track will be faster than a manual

Good guide mate 👌🏼 Agreed that most overdo it for their first few visits to the track. My first ever track day was in a brand new stock Mazda2! Picked it up from the dealer, “ran it in” that afternoon through the national park down to Stanwell Tops and took it to Wakefield on the weekend. I ended up using it in NSW Supersprints for a few years once I’d stripped it and had some suspension mods. Very cheap to run and heaps of smiles! Used to get my ass handed to me by Benny from BYP back when they first started out, the Mazda was no match for a Civic 😂 It was retired from track duties after about 3 years but due to having new oil in it regularly, it had over 300,000km of daily driving on it when I sold it. Zero mechanical problems. Also recommended, take a jack. It’s a pain to lug the damn things but you may just need to look under your car for some reason or to take a wheel off. Mine doesn’t have a factory scissor jack so to avoid having to borrow one, I take it. Taking some extra fluids isn’t a bad idea either. I bring the brake fluid bleed bottle, some fresh brake fluid and also some engine oil. Just in case.

That's some great feedback Luke but most impressive is the 300,000km on the Mazda!!

Hi, do you know what the difference in lap time is between Yokohama A050 Soft and Yokohama A050 Medium?
@hoistalk8 ай бұрын
Hi, not at the moment but I can confirm that for Hankook the soft/medium/hard was actually not related to time but rather track temp. A medium tyre will get better laptimes on a warmer track day and a hard tyre will be fastest at a hot track day as opposed to general beleif that softest is always fastest. I do have a new set of A050 tyres to test in the next track day but so far i havent been impressed with them vs the z221 (personal opionion)

Great info, does the AIM system sync with GoPro automatically or u have to do in computer manually?
@hoistalk8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Sam. I believe if you use the AIM Smarty Cam it will automatically overlay the data on the video but in terms of my footage it was overlayed using race render software manually.
