I think you sprayed to dry... Remember you HAVE to Sand Coppercoat afterwards to activate it, so you need some thickness afterall...

I have been advised by various wooden boat shipwrights to use a durable but slightly softer timber than the plank stock for splines. I take it you are also using an epoxy glue for the splines?

I read that it can be applied to rudders, struts and shafts it you do two coats of epoxy on them first. I'm wondering why you didn't do rudders, struts and shafts.

Maybe with practice next time they will get more on the boat than the floor! Transfer efficency on that jobs horrid, poor customer spending that much on coating to not get it on the hull is kinda sad. HVLP just does not work from that far back. Larger nozzel, lower fluid pressure and in close and you can get a lot more of the product on the hull doing its job.

The floor was stained with the over spray before they even started... I bet this boatworks does all of their spraying in that booth and it has just accumulated there over time. Who knows just how many boats they have gone through. Your comment seems ridiculous.

@@chefdan87 I agree I am a painter by trade and if you hold it close you will get sags, especially with Copper Coat, they recommend very light coats...in closing, Adam Edward is a jackass, with nothing better to do and definitely knows nothing about spraying or much of anything!

@@chefdan87 , Not to seem to be trolling your post but merely putting my 2 cents into the pot for consideration. 2 points 1 Adhesion and thickness. I've watched the roll-on process and can see its flaws. With the air gun, you can plainly see a perfect light and even base coat, Witch means best adhesions to the boat and also to any following coats. The advantage here is if there's a small area on the hull that's not prepared right ( for many reasons not necessarily the fault of the applicator) a thin coat will more than likely adhere to that spot. This can happen with roll-on if it's done right, but in many youtube clips it clear that it isn't. 2 Sanding I'm not sure how they determine how much coppercoat to put on any particular boat but you can be assured with a proper spray-on coating you will have less sanding and in return maybe a coating and have the potential to get 2 sandings out of the one application. You won't get that with rolling.
