My daughter is pregnant in Tampa FL. Her baby will be born in just a few weeks in November. I'm praying hard and getting ready to support both her and my grandson for the journey ahead. He will be having a Fontan procedure at some point in the near future. It's scary but I just sent her this video. Thank you for all the work you do. ❤🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Unfortunately there is a flaw in this. It won't stop left ventricular failure

When I was a baby I had meningitis. It was then that they discovered a hole in my heart affecting all four chambers. Back in the seventies, they had to wait to do surgery because I wasn't big enough. At the age of two and a half, they couldn't wait any longer. I had a second surgery in 1990 at the age of seventeen. I get the comments, but that was years ago? What do you mean you're tired, you need to keep going. Why were your children both high-risk pregnancies? However, thanks to the wonderful doctors at Texas Children's in Dallas I have lived a pretty good life and am nearly fifty. I'm blessed beyond measure.

When will it get tested in human??
@timothyconover98052 жыл бұрын
The current NIH-funded research schedule includes two rounds of animal testing, 2023 and 2024. After that, further progress will require either another NIH grant or some large corporate partner to proceed into human trials. So the answer is honestly "unknown" at this time.

Really great work. How often does it need to be changed? Do the parts wear out?
@zumbawithalexa2 жыл бұрын
It looks really large. Would it fit a child, or an adult?
@timothyconover98052 жыл бұрын
The pump is proposed to be a permanent implant in adolescents, near adult size. The mechanical design is to exceed normal human lifespan. As with any blood-handling device, a main topic of ongoing research is to prevent formation of blood clots. In the event it does stop rotating, it causes little to no more resistance to blood flow than the patient's existing Fontan circulation.

I was born with a congenital heart defects i am now 40 and have been living with heart failure. Over the years iv had 3 open heart surgeries for my aorta valve. The last sugary was to replace the valve in 2016 I have two bad values. I can feel my self going down every thing I do takes alot out of me. Everything I go to the er they say everything is normal. I can feel my heart straining..the way my rhythm changes from day to day I feel its not much longer. I'm always weak and its not fun but I still keep going no matter what. Because I am young I have to fight for SSI I don't look sick and people don't understand or really see the reality of heart failure in young people. Its a struggle 😪

I wasn’t born with heart problems but I had a heart condition last year an enlarged left atrium from having covid I had moderate covid and double covid pneumonia which effected my lungs and later on found out it effected my heart but I’m better now my heart is better too. I got healed last year on February 5th after being sick for 25 days I finally got to come out of quarantine snd was better it took me a while to get my strength back and my heart got better in I think July I got checked out because I was having chest pains

So did you have any of the Covid vaccines when they were available. I have had 6, because I didn’t have any reactions and I have a 94 year old grandad. I don’t want him to catch anything because of me. But I know a lot of people who only had the first 2 shots, because they had reactions to the vaccine. I’m not sure if those people had gotten the new vaccine, Idk. They probably didn’t since it made them feel sick for a few days. But I’d prefer being sick for a few days to dying, but that is just my opinion. Love ❤️ from Australia 🇦🇺

Honestly when my Doctor told me I had Herpes virus I almost gave up in life because I was so afraid but then I came online and saw a lot of testimonies from people here in US talking about Dr IGUDIA on KZbin who has the natural herbs medication to cure Herpes virus infection once and for all. After ordering the herbs medication that was the end of my Herpes Virus infection.

I am a CHD survivor. I was born with a partial AV canal, which included a large septal atrial defect and a severe mitral regurgitation. My parents didn’t know anything about my condition until I went to heart failure at 11 months. I had my first open heart surgery when I was 14 months old; after surgery I had a complication called hemolysis... after 5 blood transfusion and 3 months in hospital, I went home. My mitral valve wasn’t completely repaired and I had my second open heart surgery at the age of 9. Now I am 31 years old and I am fine. Thank you for you video about CHD awareness. Hugs to you, Anna from Italy 🇮🇹

I am the mother of a 53 y/o CHD survivor. This documentary is marvelous and a good instrument to get the information out to the public. I know if many of my son's friends see this, they too will be interested along with family members who have been along for the ride for all these many years. Thank you so much for producing this. It certainly gives me more knowledge to explain CHD to my own friends who ask about it, or who would be interested.

I’m 39 and I have D-TGA. I had the Schumacher repair in 1980 (slightly different than the mustard and the sennings procedures). I have a hard time breathing, I have SVT’s and my heart function is at 35%. But I’m still hear. My doctors kept telling my parents she might only make it to age... it started to a max of 25.
