Sadly, that what happens with time it all just becomes memories. I was just there this past week doing some last minute Christmas shopping and I was out of there in less than an hour. With the remodel, it does look nice; but all of charm and coziness of the original is gone. With the original mall, I easily could spend over an hour there just window shopping and browsing and that be a successful outing. However since the remodel, I don't go to the mall too often, when I do it's usually just for Target. If I do go inside the actual mall, it's only as far as Five Below.

Nothing will ever come to close to the original mall, it had everything and appealed to everyone as well. The original food court had just about anything you wanted to eat from a cheesesteak at Jerry's, a burger at Flammer's, fries at Boardwalk and for desert frozen yogurt at Everything Yogurt.

I loved Springfield mall of the 90s as a kid. My mom and sister would shop at jc penny and I’d go play at time out and get corn dog nuggets and fries at the A and W that was there. I loved the big play area near the food court too. The mall is amazing as it is now but I miss how it was when I was a kid too. I’m 32 now. Thank you for posting this for the nostalgia

A&W is where I had my first ever corndog. The mall had so much to see and do back in the 90's, glad you enjoyed the video trip down memory lane.

Some comments state this scene as a reason to not go on a cruise ship. 🤔 Can you imagine if this was one of those cheapo cruises capsizing? Getting swatted with scads of flying Payless flats? The low rent band hitting the ceiling, which is now the floor? And they still sound bad! Getting bopped by hurled baggies of bad weed? Boxes of frozen buffet entrees? Fat people hurling about the capsizing room, trying to catch them? Cristos! What a nightmare!

A modern cruise ship today is very unlikely to capsize and even if it did, it would only be briefly and the ship would turn right side up again. The damage done by capsizing today would still be about the same as it is in the movie, maybe just a bit worse though.
