You are lucky yours is V coil. I have A coil that needs cleaning the underside which I cannot access without taking everything apart and pulling it out. Why did they not use V coil for all units they sell. Obviously they do not give a damn about customers who has to clean it regularly.

Slabs are not bad either. Cut a hole in your plentium. Turn off power and throw some good stuff on it like renuzet. Foam it off . Let the foam die down the rise with water and shop vac it out . It is long process but you need get the trash out of the pan too

@@ACPro There is not enough clear area to cut out big enough hole to do a good job of what you are suggesting. Besides I am afraid of possible damage to the coil while cutting out a hole. But I guess I have no choice but try it out. Thanks for your suggestion anyway.

Great explanation. I have 2 zone system. I intermittently get the E1 code on the basement wall unit. I reset the power and then it works for a while, then the E1 comes back a day or so later. The other wall unit in the sunporch has never threw the the E1 and has been working fine. Before continuing the troubleshooting, does this mean the problem is isolated to the basement wall unit or wiring, but rules out the outdoor unit?
@ACPro
@ACPro Ай бұрын
Not necessarily rule out outdoor. But first thing I would do is make sure no splices in the wire and make sure it is not solid core . Also sometimes the terminal ends can cause the problem. You can cut off the s terminal ends and wire directly with striped copper under the screw
@running_rich
@running_rich Ай бұрын
@@ACPro Thanks. Found that the installer used 14-3 NMB (solid not wet rated!). Thinking I should replace with a "tray cable". So that should be fine outdoors and stranded?
@ACPro

@running_rich yes replace it with 14-4 tray order from Amazon or homedpote web site and hope this is your problem.

I think the Mr. Cool lines are unique. You might be able to leave the charge in the lines. However if you are swapping lines, I can't imagine the charge level will remain identical to new lines.

Is it ok to reuse the same line set and connections when re-installing?
@ACPro
@ACPro Ай бұрын
Yes blow them out . But if it is a short run and easy to replace best to replace it so you know the customer will not have leaking troubles. Some times linesets are between Walls are under concrete, making replacement, just not cost effective at the time
@Artseventy6
@Artseventy6 Ай бұрын
So,a couple more questions: What should the reading on the gauge be before closing the first valve? Also, does the pressure reading give you any idea of the refrigerant level in the system? What is a normal reading for a charged system?
@ACPro
@ACPro Ай бұрын
@Artseventy6 alot more to it than just the pressure . There is temperature relationship you have to understand. It can give you a idea of refrigerant level but it will not tell you if it is perfect. Only way to know for sure is to recover vacuum and recharge by weight
@nelsonechevarria7009
@nelsonechevarria7009 Ай бұрын
By the way,you neglected to debur the copper tubing end both inside and out before you attempted to make the flare and that in and of itself can cause a leak after having formed the flare.
@nelsonechevarria7009
@nelsonechevarria7009 Ай бұрын
Thank you for the video,I learned the hard way that a torque wrench must be used to torque the flare nuts to manufacture specified values in order to avoid these kind of problems.Take a motorhead as an example,if motorhead bolts are not set in sequence and torqued according to the make and model of a car you run the risk of blowing the engine.I spent almost $200.00 on a yellow jacket torque wrench specifically made for installing mini split units and it is money well spent because if I should ever have to redo my mini split line set or replace my mini split I will have the torque wrench to help me avoid these kind of problems.Many youtube videos show people installing mini split units but the videos fail time and time again to mention that the mini split flare nuts must be tightened with a torque wrench according to manufacturer torque values in order to avoid leaks after a year or what ever amount of time has passed.

Several ways to do it. If it is really dirty and line set allows you can pull coil put 6 or more inches. Or if it is standard maintenance and coil is clean just go threw the filter door. Or you can cut hole in plentuim and just install a maintenance door.

Nice video, and of course makes it all look so easy. In real life, as a DIY'er, I'm not finding it to be at all easy for a very large number of reasons, not the least of which is the omitted information about many things in the instruction booklet. This video says the 12,000 BTU will use 110v, not 220v, however my Ductless Aire 12,000 unit requires 220v, and that was a large ordeal in itself to install all the complicated turns of wiring ducts around the house foundation and over to the main panel. There are details about my particular installation which are really far more complicated than the installations shown in any of these mini split videos. As one tiny example, just finding and ordering the correct circuit breaker took at least 4 trips to both Lowes and Home Depot, and about two weeks time. They called it a "special order item". I could go on and on about all the difficulties I've experienced with this (not yet installed after months of work!). Now I have go 12 feet up a ladder (and I'm not so young anymore) and try to make a round hole through the old aluminum siding, and then continue through the clapboards. I did call the a/c company who installed my entire central air years ago, to seek help finishing this up (the copper lines, vacuum, manifold work, copper flaring, etc. Guess what? They refuse to help whatsoever, using the reasoning "because we didn't install the unit". Ever heard of an a/c company refusing a job? Oh, also, I've had to buy a good number of expensive and special purpose tools to do this. I still can't foresee actually getting the job all done.
@ACPro
@ACPro 2 ай бұрын
Yes it is all in the planning and on the breaker becuase your new to it all you have to learn everything . I am sure with 1 look 10 seconds I could have ordered right one from Amazon and you never would have left the house. And with baker scaffold and hole saw make a fast clean job with aluminum. But all this takes years of knowledge from doing thw work . You are trying to get that knowledge in short time. See your next one will be much easier. And I'm sure the generic Chinese English manual doesn't help you get that knowledge either.
