You should listen to Holland, The Beach Boys in the mid 70’s moved to holland for a year bc America was sucking pretty hard for them commercially and they made a banger album over there

The judge in Marvin's divorce decreed that Anna was to receive all of the proceeds from Marvin's next album. For that reason, Marvin wasn't trying to make a hit. He wasn't trying to do a great production because he didn't want her to get as much money as she was ordered to have. So the album was not a commercial hit, but ironically, in the fullness of time, the album has turned into a masterpiece, right up there with his finest work. And yes, I agree that a couple of the songs seemed random, but again, he wasn't trying to do better. I love "Is that Enough," Sparrow" and "Anna's Song." I appreciate your commentary.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that these videos don’t get views takashi slim shady has a grip on the internet. Stan’s are so sensitive they don’t argue with you they report comments posts and videos to help this man’s image

There’s been a lot of commotion musically over the recent decade(s) and A Seat At The Table gracefully pushed its way to the forefront. I haven’t heard anything like it! Awesome review and break down!

I hope in these years since this video, you've taken this music for a long, long road trip, and nothing else. No other distractions... just this album. I also hope you've read about the album's genesis - it's production. Session players. The "Beach Boys" were contract vocalists. No 'live' recordings - almost all were overdubs, and several times over. But so? Perfect is perfect. By the way, on their earlier Surfer Boy albums, there was usually 1 instrumental track - and often those were so beautiful, so heartfelt, too.

You’re in the minority and that’s ok. It’s one of his worst, that’s the general consensus. It does have some good music in it, but it was a major drop off from “the blueprint”.

Dude, you should just mellow totally and learn to enjoy mellow music ,soul searching music. You are too much into fast paced R&B to even judge these amazing selections. Just my view.

Janet’s reach with this album was incredible. It came out when I was 17 and living in a rural / coastal area of the UK. I hadn’t come to terms with my sexuality yet, didn’t know a single out gay person, and lost two grandparents that year, my first personal experience of losing a loved one. This album meant all kinds of things to me and still does. I agree the visuals are beautiful. I loved going to the record store when the singles dropped and buying the CD singles. I had to wait until I got home to listen to them as cars didn’t really have CD players yet, or at least our car didn’t.

I heard Brian Presents Smile 2004 first, and that was my introduction to Smile. I thought it was absolutely amazing, especially Surf's Up and the differemt version of Good Vibrations. Upon hearing the original sections of Smile with the Beach Boys voices, it was devastating to find out Brian never finished it. The Smile Sessions does a good job trying to piece together the sections into a cohesive whole, but it really can't succeed without the finished sections and production.
