I’m 42 years old and waiting for genetic testing results, we don’t know what type of mutation I have. Been night blind since seven years old , no peripheral vision since infancy , im terribly clumsy and a RP patient with no hearing impairment. The hardest part of living with these symptoms are in social environment , people don’t really understand and usually find me weird . I’m grateful I don’t have hearing problems yet and I’m really sorry teens are heavily affected by usher syndrome .

I followed all at the beginning. Although my daughter is not hard of hearing the information that you gave helped so much and us communicating versus every day or in a concert function at the school when she was so little because I’m not in the same situation I struggle understanding everything but I’m not close minded, so please understand my situation of just raising a child and giving you credit for helping me going through those baby and teenage years that was a blessing for me and I thank you for that so much and I hope to follow more information and I look at you guys as a blessing not only just to continue to build your relationshipbecause teenagers are so different than toddlers. Thank you for what you have done it help me get in contact with other deaf people and I love that community love it thank you.

This is a topic that I have been passionate about for a while. As a speech-language pathologist working at a school for the Deaf, I have witnessed time and time again how the negative perspective of sign language has harmed Deaf children. When students transfer to my school from public schools, they come with IEPs that are clearly written by people who are unfamiliar with or do not understand deaf children and their needs, particularly when writing speech-language therapy goals. Often, the language used in the IEPs is extremely misleading and one of the reasons I think there is a problem. I have seen over an over again the phrase "due to their deafness" or "due to their hearing loss" when talking about the reasons why a student may be below grade level. Many hearing professionals incorrectly attribute a deaf student's educational struggles to their hearing levels, when in fact it is due to lack of accessible language exposure, which leads parents to believe that hearing levels are the problem and not the language/lack of language. I am wondering how that will play out in states that have passed LEAD-K bills and are collecting data. Will professionals try to attribute the 79% to hearing levels, saying that children born deaf are born to already behind? I hope that there will be data countering that thought.

Awesome! Your presentation has excellent information for everyone. It impacted me to learn about several topics that you discussed. The term Juxtaposition made a lot of sense to discuss comparing the different things. It is good to know that Federal Laws can be updated every five years. However, we still need more enforcement laws for the specific "Deaf." Due to ongoing neglected cases, the disabilities may not proper category for our community. I noticed it is designated for the hearing disabled, who are more likely to receive support. Deaf people are still inclusive of the law and not firmly recognizable to us. I am astonished that the potential genetics specialist can remove the "Deaf" DNA. It would damage the Deaf resources that general people could use. It does not make any difference to remove it and still have issues after childbirth by any incidents. Thank you for sharing the information with the Global Perspectives, CRPD, and EHDI ACT.

I enjoyed viewing this presentation. Most of the information shared was not new to me, but the impact of seeing the actual numbers (statistics) was quite humbling. Gene editing is very concerning, and I do think that we have to stand strong and be proactive in protecting our rights as a human Deaf person.

This presentation was equal parts eye-opening and validating. You were able to articulate what many of us have known on a gut level. The idea of the 3 frames of signed languages was powerful. I definitely see how the framing of sign language as a problem is prevalent and aligns with deaf education being subsumed by special education. If we are to truly frame sign language as a human right, we must separate deaf education from the deficit framework of special education and shift to a multilingual/multicultural education framework. Thank you for sharing this powerful presentation!

This lecture hits close to my heart right now as I embark on the difficult task of transforming the mainstream public school Deaf Ed program I run from a total communication mindset to a bilingual mindset. I hope to share this lecture with my administrators and staff and begin the dialogue of teaching ASL with the same tenacity that we teach English. Thank you for all your insight and work to beautifully explain the importance of language without barriers. Jenn Foster

I appreciate this testimony. It made me realize that the hundreds of Spielberg interviews with Survivors never included ANY Survivors with disabilities or illnesses which develop in older age e.g. survivors with Parkinsons or people in whealchairs are not in any Shoah Foundation Testimonies. At least I didn’t come across any despite watching about 60 Survivor Testimonies. This makes this documentary and Testimony even more precious.

Try Yad Vashem-Survivor stories, there might be any with survivors in wheellchairs, because I remember at least one testimony I saw (from two sisters) with one woman in a wheel chair, but sorry, don't remember the channel.

It will and we are living in a time where so many Biblical prophecies are coming true at such a fast rate that some days it heard to keep up with. And it tells us that we are living in the last of the last days, that Ezekiel 38 is about to happen. And the 4 horsemen of Revelation are about to come on the sense, that is if they're not already here. Isaiah 53 tells us of the Messiah and tells us that we need to give our lives to Yeshua before it is to late.

It’s so great to learn more about Daniel and his history. Loved him in CODA and on DWTS. I hope he does another project soon! I really appreciate this insight into his life growing up. Very interesting! He definitely should write a book.
