My great-Grandfather, an immigrant from Scotland was a shipwright in the Port of Long Beach. Family lore has him working on John Barrymore's yacht. Wish I could see this exhibit, but I'm now out East.

This is the WORST THING YOU COULD DO. Wind Turbines are not the answer. You are killing Whales, Dolphins, and Bald Eagles. You know it is true and you are hiding the facts. This has gone on for way too long and you have lied to the public.

Very enlightening interview. The complexities inherent in port operations are addressed in comprehensive and understandable language, and the challenges of emission reduction while remaining competitive are effectively presented. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to learn and appreciate the many factors that are involved in making our lifestyle possible, and for the massive research that underlies your highly recommended book.

wasn't built that long ago, when I came to Long Beach in 1984 there was only on way to get on the 710 and that was 7th street, they added the connectors at the bottom of the Gerald Desmond bridge in the late 80s I believe

Mini-Land bridge - an intermodal movement in which the shipment is moved from a foreign country to the U.S. by water and then moved across the U.S. by railroad to a destination that is a port city, or vice versa for exports from a U.S. port city. PS - Not quite ready for prime time but Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec route between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans in Mexico will be interesting to watch as infrastructure is completed and new industrial parks are built.

I was a reeve trucking driver (truck #15) in early 2003, 04 time frame (been at least 20 yrs) who hauled the extremely long octagon pilling in from Fontana 2x a day for about 1 year. I found a couple of old pics I took and "southman" was the crane we worked with. Unfortunately I had to give up my class A license and now I'm 100% disabled. I really miss doing it. I used to have alot of pics but I've lost alot of it. I did find 1 pic of southman unloading the octagon pilling into a barge. Are there any videos or pics online of that work being done? It would mean the world to me if I can find something I could show my grandkids that grandpa "was" a "bad ass" truck driver.

Given the impact of Houthi attacks in the Red Sea combined with the low water in Panama Canal, the ports of LA-Long Beach will get a boost as additional container traffic is routed through the West Coast. Class 1 railroads will also see a boost. PS - interesting briefing on trade PS2 - EU EV manufacturers will be crying crocodile tears as capacity from China is constrained.
