"Customers will leave a store with bad music." I normally _hate_ the music playing in stores, that's why I listen to my own music or podcasts 99.9999% of the time. Though I do have to admit I loved when I heard _Detachable Penis_ playing at a Best Buy; then I saw a clerk running furiously to stop the music.

Does furs-zone expire? I grabbed some that was from 2012. It doesn’t have the furs-zone smell anymore. And not as firm, like it had melted a bit from being warmed up. Thank you!

Good thought here Steve and I really agree strongly with this perspective. To play devils advocate, I also think you can build it into company culture + business scaling systems. It is true, you cannot have a CEO for every [x] number of customers. However you can invent a position of authority and power (can't be fake, must be legit) in a business, with a scale denominator (one person per [x] size of business), where the person routinely interacts with customers. And this goes further away from your point, but there is great value in cultivating a culture of ownership mentality among every person on your team from top to bottom. Customers sense whether or not the person they are talking to actually has a voice that travels up the chain. Ensuring your front line people are truly heard all the way up the chain is a recipe for customer delight, thus loyalty, thus raving fans and promoters. (scalable & high ROI marketing)

Hey Steve. Ironic I stumbled on this one considering ive been trading emails with you about merchant services. I hope your statement “now not being a good time” has to do more with hunting season or busy end of year more than another plastic pusher trying to bend your ear. Ha!! But to your point about the article: I agree with you. How does a business make those decisions that can both benefit their bottom line while not alienating a certain consumer. My grandpa comes to mind. Cars, cattle, boat, lunch: cash only. He was very reluctant to accept cards at his convenience store in Comanche, OK. I think for one reason you mention was the fees. The other was as you mentioned being robbed and not everything was cash. Of course that was years ago and know things have changed quite a bit. With the influx of specialty cards, reward cards, points/cash back cards, small businesses have to bear the brunt of paying those fees just to accept cards. And now throw in these new pricing options of a processor offering surcharging, cash discounting the question becomes again will I alienate customers because I allow them to use cards but I pass on my fees? For you, a successfully run business, I am sure you have untold decisions to make on the daily. PS I want you to know I know where you stand in regards to our communication. If you see a comment from me or a share/like it’s truly because I’m being exposed to new ways of thinking about how I market myself and try to make connections and rather enjoy your content. It wasn’t like this in the oilfield. It was good ole boy handshake deals, not a lot marketing content. If you and I meet we meet. If we don’t, we don’t. And I truly mean that.
