Outstanding teaching!!! 💯...I've been learning for 2 years now under Sifu Anthony Laughlin and I cracked up when you told your student "shoulder down," My teacher stays telling me that... "Excellent...now, do it again with your SHOULDER DOWN!" 😂

And if you wanted to do it the way it really is supposed to be done, both people would be much closer, hence the name close reflex. The striker would be hitting in a way that would make the defender want to jump from his spot , it should be extremely intense, with both people trying to beat the other. The purpose of close reflex is to teach you to move the split second before the striker knows he is going to strike. That is one of the keys to Kun Tao, invisible hitting, ballistic speed, and percieving the opponents move before he knows he is going to move.

Not to be negative but this isn't realistic. Nobody is going to attack like this. When you do martial arts you need to train like you are fighting another martial artist or fighter. These one punch techniques and doing all this extra shit that a non willing participant won't let you do in a real situation will end you up hurt. This stuff needs to be modified. This stuff is especially not practical against someone who knows distance and how to control. All these extra techniquse will have you slapping, missing and fighting like a female.

If your arms detract from your motion why do people swing their arms when they run or jump or kick a ball!! I agree that you should learn to operate your hands separate to your feet, but that's for technical purposes.

Could you post video which describe this drill and movements in details? I'd like to learn it but it's performed very fast and angle of camera is not convenient to see movements.

I find your combination very interesting. I've been practicing Wing Chun for almost 8 years in the Leung Sheung lineage. I originally thought that you looked a lot like a Xing Yi practitioner, but I definitely noticed some very WC moves, close to the way we practice, which is rare. Who did you learn Wing Chun from?

Wow, wish I could have shown some of my buddies how to do this stuff when I was younger. You have really good principles you use, also you got that concept down to a T about no wasted motion. Took me years to find something to get faster hands like this with a lot of fluidity.

Is in your current videos more Kuntao or more Wing Chun? I am interested, because I trained Ving Tsun for a long time and am now focused more on FMA.
@closequarterskuntao2928

Thomas Plath It is hard to qualify which is shown more. I would say most likely Kuntao. I utilize Wing Chun in most everything I do to some extent as well as Kuntao. I am not trying to be evasive. I definitely utilize the structure of Wing Chun as well as the trapping skills. Maintaining root is critical in my approach to movement.
