@DalainaRenee my goodness. I'm so sorry. Nope not a big Ren fest fan, but my heart goes out to him. Everything is just falling like domino's. Just so hard for me right now because I know the small town curse I call it when city people invade they ruin the past significance of a village that should stay a village restored to lessen ANY eyesore appearance. BUT we love in Michigan and as I said on my Rosie's video we don't keep we destroy. No care of salvage or Preservation of legacy it's all me, me, me, me! Sick of it. I know you all in Holly are too! I can say this from experience. St Clair County is the same way. Modern minded people show up a person of the 1800s legacy erased. It's a curse.

The whistle on the far left was the one from Croswell. It was being overpowered by the steam manifold pressure causing the shriek. It was tuned by the crew the next day, and sounds much better now.
@historyadventureswithcandi34975 ай бұрын
@MelissaWilson-m4q yea I meant to say that one. I figured it was a small issue got resolved. The kids blowing those were so good! It brought back days of my late father teaching me how to blow the whistles from his whistle collection. He had a large collection, but like the antique engines my mom, brother and I donated to the museum in Dad's memory back in 2014, the whistles however when dad was alive he I think sold them and only a handful remains for us as memories. We don't blow those.
@historyadventureswithcandi34975 ай бұрын
@MelissaWilson-m4q it was still a dream come true seeing the whistle that once was blown at the Croswell plant. Still happy they're still in service. And they are harvesting their sugar beets still!

Well of course it's possible to repurpose those buildings it is possible to go and make repairs fix the but of course at what cost? See that's the problem what a lot of people don't understand about commercial buildings is simply they generally need constant maintenance without it they fall apart pretty quickly. So sometimes the cost of restoring it back to what it wants followed by what you're going to be able to do with that building after you fixed it up and what money you could possibly make off of it it's not worth it a lot of times now there is the concept that you can repurpose it into some sort of housing it may not be very comfortable yes you can technically have construction Crews build anything you would like they could do it but there again it may not be cost effective. It's like for instance I'm down here in Newark Ohio I live literally down the road from the lotaburger basket I don't know if you've heard of it but one way or the other it's a seven story basket that was once a lot of burgers headquarters it's been empty since July of 2016 there has been multiple offers to buy it but every time there would be buyers back out it's never really publicized why they back out but I would practically bet that it's because they've sent building inspectors down here in the building inspectors came back with reports telling them it's going to cost this this to fix it and so they said hell no. The bad part is it's not only gets worse over time I know about four or five months ago they left the building lights on the inside office lights on at night which they haven't done that in years but you could look up into the office Windows see the ceiling tiles have fell down everything so right there is a sure sign of water damage. But of course there's been all kinds of ideas floated around for that building and with which one of the last perspective buyers out of Cleveland talked about how they might take it and turn it into condos and or apartments the building was never constructed for that so how much of the building would they have to cut in order to make it for that see that's where the problem is. So it's like a lot of people say the same thing about a lot of the balls or stores in general that have come up empty they talk about repurposing it into like low income housing or something that affect well that seems like a good idea but the problem is most of those buildings are not built for that and the conversion would be stupidly high priced it would defeat the purpose of repurposing it. That's sad I will say that I think the reason why repurposing of a lot of these commercial buildings is not 100% investigated by any local housing coalition or say the counties or cities themselves is because the counties in the cities they don't want to lose that properties commercial designation in other words these idiots are delusional they seem to think that another business is going to come in when in reality most business is contracting has been for well over a decade. But there's a lot of people within the city and county governments that believes that it's going to come back better than ever if you just give it 5 to 10 years I mean this is how stupidly optimistic these people really are. And yeah I do straight up accuse them of being delusional simply because the internet efficiency across the population has been out there for quite some time I mean you're looking at 17 to 18 years ago it's a very minimum and with each year even just within that time frame it gets worse and it's still getting worse I mean it's to the point where we really cannot as a population support every retail offering that is available so I would say that the so-called retail apocalypse is more so just a sending of the herd. Meaning there's going to be even more buildings join the empty building club.

I respectfully will not visit it. Alot of tragedy and I don't agree with some things they're doing there or want to do there. I think it should have stayed a museum of remembrance for those who went through all the bad or clean out the darkness of its dark past and make it using its rooms senior independent living or just a hotel throughout the building. I'm happy for the new ownership and the building still with us, even though the little buildings are too far gone they are what I call mercy demoing because there's nothing one can do. Thank you though for your input. Flint Central High gave me chills like am Eloise. I know there were alot of people going through mental, emotional, angels vs demons inside them battling 8 to 3 time all the time, the depression list goes on. In Flint alot has gone on over the years.

Beautiful building. Inside and out, I do photography inside every now and then. Opened 100 years ago (1923) and closed in 2009. It was somewhat safe and preserved inside until the pandemic hit, then the security became practically nonexistent. There are open entrances on all sides of the main building and dumb people keep blowing shit up and setting things on fire. Most people I have met/seen around the school are relatively friendly, and range from mischievous 12 year olds to an older couple who used to attend. There’s been meetings held to attempt to demolish the school, but as of last October it is at standstill; I have mixed feelings.
@historyadventureswithcandi3497 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely 💯 I'm sure she was unsecured and free to those who believe everything is free and isn't I call in the retail working world a free shopper. I think if cameras were present after 2009 and closed off to them it would have been a time capsules. Cooley high ever seen her built years after this one in Flint Michigan, Detroit Schools closed her back in 2010 the free shoppers were in heaven because consistency of unsecured no one to arrest the riff raff. Her glorious auditorium like a 20s time capsule mini operahouse looking structure burnt in 2017 or 2018 deemed arson really made me get on a kick and realize those opposed or hate historic objects will ruin it for any of us eho hope to have the monies and right paperwork to tell those who own these to please help us. Ever heard of life remodeled they are Detroit based nonprofit tried ther hardest ineven with many others banded with the alumni to help bring her bsck because of her conditions are worsening and those who dint care but to destroy her or leave her to rot had to be stopped, unfortunately she is still in Detroit Schools hands and the superintendent just no Matter convincing or giving him monies to make him accept because it's a money pit I hate to say it, and like other Detroit and Flint Schools it's always the same story funding, staff shortage, enrollment declining, hard to maintain list goes on so they throw up their hands and vote closure and the structure rots and free shoppers break in to the structure because NO ONE IS KEEPING THEM OUT OR CARE TO! It's riveting abs angering if I was a millionaire these structures would have Been community centers, senior living, homeless shelters, museums list goes on. Those who try to bring youth back in to them like life remodeled are pushed away. Now some have become living apartments and senior independent living and churches or museums. There are many across st clair county, Lansing mi, yale mi, almont etc. The means and proper convincing or mainly those in more favor to comply and let things happen regardless of money but both money, care, and actions taken it happens. All we can do is freeze these in our films because the death pending is knocking on the door and the mercy demo I call them when these rot and are too far gone happens. At least we are doing what we can to give past staff and students peace to know someone else cared as much for his or her school to be remembered and talked about to the world. Thank you for watching and doing what you do.
