For 8 acers, you're running some big equipment that isnt easy on fuel. Discbine will get you into bigger hp tractors, which isn't needed for 8 acers. That case might be alright in fuel consumption. But I know that 966 isn't. Biggest tractor you should have on that small acreage is the baling tractor. We do 6 acers, sometimes we cut and bale another 6 acers. Biggest tractor i use is IH 706. Otherwise everything stays small. Farmall Super C, IH 37 baler, 9' haybine, 10' tedder, IH 37 rake, and 2 hay racks. Newest piece is a 10' tedder. Cutting, tedding and raking i do with Super C and fuel consumption is like 8 gallons. Maintenance is almost nothing because I take care of it. I broke 2 sections, 1 bushing in 2 years. In your case, id keep 1 decent sized tractor for baling and the rest id go as small as you can get away with. Fuel is the biggest factor in small acreage.

Great video. Oof, I know that late summer “why didn’t this come out as dry as I thought” exhaustion all too well. Props for recognizing it and giving things more time. It’s so easy to just have fatigue and force it all through the baler, just to regret it the next day.

I remember when I was 16 my buddy’s grandpa had a farm and my buddy would hook the bale pull it onto the trailer and I would stack them on the trailer and then go toss them to the second floor and stack them to the ceiling in a 110 degree heat .Honestly wish we had this back then 🤣
