I’m not sure if you’re still using this but I def recommend removing the flow restrictor, that’s probably the cause of all the noise, pressure build up.

the white fluffy fungus is biofilm! the shrimps naturally eat it up so a lot of breeders purposely try to grow it in their tanks. also what ph did you get with the brightwell? did it hold under 6ph for very long?

good to know! i got a new ph pen but i’ll also get a sera ph test to be able to cross check. Also how has the brightwell soil been? Is it able to maintain under 6 ph? and for how long

I had a 5800 for about 5 years with no issues on my Culligan RO system. Then it started making a noise that I can only describe as a "hammer" noise like you are quickly shutting and turning on the water at about 1 second intervals when I use filtered water. Changed it to the 5851 and about a month later same issue. I have city water with relatively high pressure (70psi from the street). Any idea if I just got the black marble and its defective? Also, wondering if I need it as it's servicing the fridge sink and a pot filler that's about 10ft up and 10ft over from my RO system. At my wits end any help would be great

Can this pump get water up 8ft vertical, then 160" horizontal, gradually coming down to 51" above the ground, without any water pressure behind it? I just need a trickle to fill evaporated water in aquarium using a float switch to activate the pump's power supply.

great video and great observations. my shrimp do very well when i go on vacation for 3 weeks and the aquarium gets untouched. Less i fiddle with them the better they do. another concept my friends use is when the tds creeps over 10ppm then they do a 10% water change.

Hey friend, Greetings from Chicago! I just found and subscribed to your channel. I've actually heard less is more when it comes to water changes for shrimp. However, I primarily keep fish and am rigorous about water changes. 40% weekly. Come visit my fish room and lets grow our channels together!

I totally agree with you I've been always listening to all the big shrimp guys Tell me I need to change it at least 10% every week or two. And I tried an experiment with a 30 gallon tank where I quit changing the water except for maybe 10% every 2 or 3 months. The 30 gallon tank is crawling with baby shrimp and the tanks that I do the 10% every week are just carrying on with a few babies but nothing compared to the 30 gallon

The 6800 is only recommended for passing through a RO membrane producing up to 50GPD....looks like you're running two in series [100GPD?], so the 8800 is the correct pump to use in this scenario. These pumps tend to run well for quite some time. Things that could possibly cause it to get a little wacky is making too gross of adjustments to the set screw on the pump itself. [I prefer to make all set screw adjustments on the pressure switch first/alone.] Anything past a 1/2 turn on the pump's set screw can start putting you in wacky territory, and you may start to hear that rattling sound -- fine adjustments only. It is always a good idea to have a spare pump on-hand though. I use the Aquatec pumps in both my aeroponics and RO setups, and although I've not needed it yet, I always keep a spare on-hand.

Thank you for this info. I hope your Fin family is doing well. You're singing my song, I have been driven nuts, by what I now believe was an extreme false reading, API Nitrite testing I've been testing (API) Nitrite " not Nitrate" levels in my 30 gallon tank. Nothing I was doing was lowering it. Endless water changes at 50%, nightly. Following instructions applying Prime, Stability, Fritz, Microbe-lift all quality. I have vacuumed the gravel every day, seriously have been doing Everything suggested. Nitra-Zorb media in the filter, ripping my hair out, the API test results for over 2 weeks " 3-4 PPM" My two goldfish are acting as they always do, plucky, playful and begging for more food. I have drastically cut their food volume, feeding them every other day, or just a few pellets. They are HANGRY. They are Big, 6 inches long with fins. They are active in their tank. I dug out my SERA Nitrite test this evening. Two tests, No. 1 and No.2 they are not mixed, you test individually. The Nitrite Reading on both tests ?! " 0 ppm" No Nitrite detected. NADA ZIP. All I have seen for over two weeks from the API test is Deep Magenta, off the chart Nitrite. Ammonia is 0. Nitrate is 0! I am confused and needless to say Angry. If the API test is faulty, my Buppies have been through all of this for NO reason. Me too, the stress is unbelievable, doing everything you possibly can to ensure their health, with zero results. API Test, I have 2 bottles, both results the same, hot magenta.. Sera results " yellow" stayed Yellow which is " ZERO Nitrite" I trust SERA vs API, some of their products have provided as they intend to work, this false reading for weeks is not forgivable.

Hi Free Fallin! I have been there. API test kits have been around forever and I've used them throughout my time in the hobby. I will only use SERA test kits from now on. It's a bit harder to get but it's worth it. Thanks for watching!

@@howieshomeaquariums8628 HI HOWIE, I am still angry this am. I retested the Nitrite with each test. SERA results " Zero" and API says the Fish need a Casket, showing Nitrire over 5ppm. HOW can it be so far polar in results ? I tried another test, PH. The API and Sera compared, they came back with same results which is perfect for my Goldfish. I messing around, used tank water 5ml, used ONE drop of the API Nitrite test, ... add Jaws theme, it came back Magenta. I tried something else too. 5ML tank water in test tube, added API Nitrite solution, " Deep Bright Magenta/of course" Next, I held the test tube while counting Drops of Seachem Prime, drip after drip. 20th drop which is 1 ML, water instantly went to light blue. Which API's Nitrite at Zero is light blue. I have been Priming my tank for weeks. No change in perimeter according to API results. Ya Got Me !

Could be, would not be surprised if they only last a year or 2. Unfortunately, my water pressure is only 50 psi and it is not enough to go thru 2 membranes and be efficient. I am stuck replacing them.

Hey man! Love you update videos! Can you show the flow rate/production of water from your system? I've just bought a 75 GPD system but I am afraid that it isn't producing the right amount of water per hour :( seems like it is producing drops per minute and I don't know if it is working properly :( thanks a lot man!
@howieshomeaquariums8628
@howieshomeaquariums8628 2 жыл бұрын
I had that same problem as well when I first installed my RO system. It's because of the pressure coming into your home. These systems run on the pressure. Usually it's 50 psi because it's how it's set when a home is built. Mine is at 50 psi but since I put in a booster pump, It's boosted to 85 psi. I have gone from taking 6 hours to make 50 gallons to 4 hours. Also, these systems work better under higher pressure. Higher pressure = less TDS. Check the pressure coming into the RO membrane and if it's low, that is your issue. Thanks for watching!
