When running the enrichment supply line due to the recipe being limited to the exact amount it reduces the efficiency as there is a bit of down time. To solve the issue of downtime increase the cap on the uranium and uranium output.

That’s true. But it’s a trade off, specifically early one with a limited supply of u235. Also with so many tiles the difference is negligible.

good short. keep at it. the channel must grow. anyway could you explain the circuit logic of the chests that feed the reactors for efficient fuel cell consumption?
@-12Sided10 сағат бұрын
You shouldn’t be concerned about efficiency in fuel cell consumption. Uranium is plentiful even on default settings. I have been able to run 20 reactors with no fancy circuit conditions and still have a huge stack of uranium. But.. if you want to. You can connect a wire to an array of storage tanks (for steam) and then connect that wire to an inserter that will only insert a fuel cell if there is less than 3-5K steam inside the storage tank. That way it does save you fuel cell consumption because even if the reactors are down.. steam will still be used for fuel to the turbines. And once it is below that 3-5K threshold, it will insert another fuel cell and get the reactors back up again.
@w.w.walnut84007 сағат бұрын
@-12Sided thanks for the tip. I know that fuel cells are not a rare commodity but I just love the (completely unnecessary) efficiency

Your design for a full belt of smelting via electric furnaces is one tile too tall, you should have one belt in and one belt out. Use long handed inserters or regular inserters to pull from the input, then use the alternate inserter to put on the output belt. No need to realign the items on the belt in the middle of the smelter when the top line of furnaces outputs to the bottom of the belt, and the bottom line of smelters outputs on the top of the belt!

dont wanna sound rude, but when you're making the design with two splitters to get two belts with 50\50 ore and coal, you can make it more compact by just extending the underground belt to full length and putting the splitters right where the belts are, so the whole construction is 2 belts wide(saw this in Bigfoot's widgets video)

Hummm… im not understanding your design exactly. Can you pass me the blueprint string please?
Thanks! I will. 😊 what other topics would you like to see?
@KeithOlsonКүн бұрын
Handy! Some thoughts: 1. You can make smaller buffers by having the output inserters side-feeding splitters that face the output belt on each side. This works because the inserter can dump it's load around twice as fast, and the splitter acts like a two-lane mini buffer. 2. If you don't want to completely redo your smelting section down the road, you can start by leaving three spaces between each line for beacons and, for the stone and steel furnaces, leave an extra space between them AND the center belt and have them output with a long inserter to the center belt. That way, you only have to clear out the furnaces and output inserters to place electric furnaces. 3. For more output, you can run extra belts either on the outside or between the inserters. If you do it between the inserters, then you can still fully beacon your smelting. Personally, for the input side, I run double belts with splitter that alternate between swapping items to the inside of the primary belt and adding from the secondary. I do basically the same thing, only the second splitter pushes item to the secondary belt. My smelting lines are twice as long while producing twice as much. 4. Speaking of fully beaconing smelting, it is actually better to *NOT* have smelters on both sides of the output line, as you then can only half-beacon your smelters. Running 8 beacons--with 1 speed and 1 efficiency--per smelter--with full productivity--makes for *AMAZINGLY* throughput. (...as long as you can product the necessary power, of course!) Cheers!

You will learn 10 times more that way. Hope you stay around for more confusing tutorials :D cheers!

@@Maxiume Well regardless of the pain in trying to mimic your decider things, it was a very helpful vid. I made a setup of my own before I checked this, using steam engines (not turbines) with a bad ratio and overloading the reactor with barrells of juice. You sorted me out well the basic setup, but I'm still overloading the reactor because I couldn't really figure out what to do based on the half second mouseovers you gave of the completed circuit. It is what it is. If you ever make a tutorial, step by step on setting up these circuit things I personally feel the best examples are: 1) nuclear power setup and 2) getting ridda excess space junk while trying to produce space science on a tiny space platform--- these are the two places where I knew I wanted the system as a new player. Just a suggestion! Thank you for your vid and time. Also highly recommend tagging and titling any tutorial of this with Space Age, because the main reason I'm not looking at older vids is because I just assume they're well out of date with the space age patch (I know it changed circuit stuff). All the new circuit tutorials (like this one) here assume so much prior knowledge.

Tutorial id for you. This hub design is great for inserters, belts, pipes,... Other items that you need a lot off. There are many items of varying complexity that you only need to craft 1-100 times. For those items it's easier to create a sushi belt imo. Make a belt loop of 125 belts. This fits 1000 items. In the start of the game you can 10x100 items on here with inserters hooked up to belt readers. I put the 10 items in sererate chests and put inserters hooked up to read the whole sushi loop and make them activate when item is below 100. I can post my setup if you are interested

I had a somewhat unusual nuclear reactor setup. I had a massive base, but also a truly ridiculous number of solar panels and batteries. During the day, the solar panels would produce what I needed, and I didn't quite have enough batteries, so I added a large nuclear reactor, four of them. The thing was, I realized that the steam didn't cool down over time, so I could make a field full of containers holding steam, so they were in essence, batteries. At night, they accumulated steam would be used to keep the base operational.

Since the update where filter inserters are integrated with every inserter, I'm having trouble with the decider combinator on the reactor. I select the reactor and I enable both read fuel and read temp. I then capture those two signals as the input to my combinator. I create the conditions of less that one fuel cell, and less than 650 temp, and AND them. I then create an output signal of 1 fuel cell, and attach the output to the inserter with green wire. Next, I select the inserter, and select the "set filter" option so that that it filters by input signal instead of manually. However, this Grey's out the 5 slots for whitelisting, and the arm does nothing even when both conditions are met, and the output signal triggers. Thoughts?

Us plebs in the vast majority are not worth the food we consume, that, Malthus was right, but after millennia of Kings and Nobles culling all the ppl that dared to ask questions, or had an independent thought, what do you think our population of humans at least in the West would be after that? That was a signal the play became operational. 500 million ppl globally. That's a pretty big reduction in population if you ask me. How to get that to happen? Idk, there are multiple avenues concurrently at play. The poisoning of our air, water, food and meds. The miseducation of a population to ensure choices that will have them off themselves sooner, the destruction of male/female relationships and a fecundity rate virtually ZERO for productive citizens in the US, or across the Western world... biological weapons (euphemistically called gain of function, which is Newspeak from _1984),_ and I'll stop there...* Lastly, as a peer into how our oligarchs think, Brzezinski accurately predicted 21st century events in this book published in 1970. Put another way, the had a plan and got it perfected. A famous quote of his was it has become cheaper to unlive (ytube word) a million ppl, than to fool them. So, our shelf lives are sufficiently short, I've been doing my best to enjoy myself because who knows what tomorrow brings. Factorio gives me pleasure but also sufficiently complex to lose myself in it such that I forget the pickle we're in... so small pleasures... _________________________ * "By reducing vocabulary, the Party aims to control the populace's thoughts and perceptions, effectively rendering dissent impossible." Think allowing us plebs to only communicate via text, which without inflections, tone of voice and body language is so easily misconstrued... And emojis! 😇😛😏😎 Stay safe and enjoy the time we have left. Some sources (immediate deletion if I include a name) say 2025 the US will lose over 200 million ppl. Hmmm. This prediction from a publication used by global militaries to plan future force structures and spending is over 7 years old, and nothing I've seen has changed the falsification of that prediction over the years. So, never miss a chance to enjoy yourself, bud.

@@Maxiume Speaking to the tyrannical censorship most ppl experience here on ytube, there's a relevant quote from long ago and far away: "Tolerance will reach such a level that intelligent ppl will be banned from thinking, so as not to offend the imbeciles." - Dostoievski What is an easier foe to cull than imbeciles?
