If you change the side merge block to a connector, and use conveyor junctions instead of steel blocks, it will transport resources!

Seems not to work anymore.. My piston part like always breaks apart from the merger when I retract the piston with all its blocks. What are the recommended force values for the piston?

Ok, ya, that's a really amazing idea. this could be used to extend down to almost infinity (really 7km down, and nearly endless horizontally on a planet, or at least until the curvature gets you) Although, I do wonder how much this would bog down on a server, given that your building from the "bottom" instead of building off of the "top" using an inch-worm layout

I tried drilling through the moon. I think I got like 2 miles (or 2km?) in before it bogged down enough to be unplayable

This could be adpated to use conveyor pipes and conveyor junctions and make an infinite drill and still get resources

Exactly I haven't been able to play for quite a while, but if you get this to work, please share the details, many people have asked about this

I was able to get this working by printing a conveyors next to the merge blocks. middle one being a T junction with a Hinge part. Then I have a hinge on a piston that will detach when the piston is moving, and re-attach when it is stopped. Due to printing time, it is able to pull the stone from the drills each time. Clang is very present in this, and I am sure there are other ways to go about it. This is working for me at the moment.

in real gameplay, tho: none of this actually works without many bugs occurring. it IS space engineers, afteral. the only game where your newbuild capital ship can simply... explode when adding pistons to it. :) (yes that truly happened 2ce to me. clunky pistons exploding about 30% of a capital ship, because ... space engineers.. they build pistons out of tnt.

hi! im trying to make this but with conveyors or containers instead of light armor blocks, but someway... the welders dont build the containers... (im testing it on creative...) what i should do?

I haven't had time to make a video on how to make the conveyors work, but I keep hoping that someone else will share their design (see other comments). If you get it working too, please share for others

well just add a tube to the blueprint and scale the weldering machine. or maybe add a self constructed paralel tube with a conector

nice tutorial , instead of blocks you can also just weld a new piston and conveyor junction, ( still working out the automation for the new piston) but manually it works.

Weld and grind in the same place a conveyor tube maybe?
@ethanthompson4198 Жыл бұрын
I know this comment was from a year ago but I thought about this while watching the video and an idea I had was swapping the armour blocks in the repeating welding part with conveyor blocks and adding a connector to the side that auto grinds like the merge blocks and spits the stone out into a collector

Man I have this built but the timer parts were way to fast, I Don't think my timers are connected right... I tryed triggering next block but things get glitchy and i think some how they all trigger each other at once. I also tried having the next step turn off the one before it but no luck. You might want to make a full working version where you have all dimensions figured out because you jump around a lot and hits hard to learn what your trying to show.
@reesewilson3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there are too many variables to get the timing locked down, it's different for everyone, which is why I didn't spend much time on it. I have also switched to a mostly sensor-based system to remove most of the variables

This concept works well. I built it, I love it. There is a problem. I drilled it to a depth of about 1.6 km. As I get deeper and deeper there are more and more anomalies around the drill. FPS / UPS drops regularly. As if the gravity was much higher. This game is becoming more and more unplayable. Anyone have any ideas?

Same thing happened to me, tried to drill through the moon. Never got to 2km, the physics engine just can't handle that many calculations

Finally, someone who understands I dont want to watch hours of video to understand a complex concept. Thank you. This taught me about timers, and seems an ideal way to study programmable blocks as well because the procedure cycles much like a program loop would. Does anyone know how to modify the design to use a programmable block? I realise that timers are more backwards compatible, but it would really be helpful to me please. I built the base model from scratch in online survival and will now attempt to add a conveyor system to the workshop item. PS: I am still a little fuzzy on how the inf piston knows to change its velocity back to fast when the cycle restarts.
