The aloe Vera in the stress coat depletes the oxygen content in the water making it hard to breath for them, also you cannot grow plants inside of brackish water like that, they will not survive, most plants don’t live in marine water, and thirdly the bacteria your talking about isn’t the same kind of bacteria your talking about isn’t what’s found in marine water, infact the marine salt kills the bacteria in the water and have to start a new bacteria bloom for salt/ brackish

Hi. Just watched your video. Thank you! Going to try my 36G bowfront tank. I have a fluval 20-50 gallon filter on it. There are a couple ferns in it. Trying to cycle it now. Its a freshwater tank right now. Id like to get 1 green spotted puffer for the tank. The substrate is like a soil gravel kind with lots of pH for plants. Ive been feeding plants CO2 and plant feed. I have one air stone in it. I need to add rocks and id like to a mangrove. Im worried about the substrate i have. Could i just ad sand on top of it? It already has water though. Not sure what to do there.

Thank you! You helped me out so much! I bought some puffers and been looking into transferring them to full brackish water! People sold them to me as freshwater and kind of left me hanging.

Brackish is anything between freshwater and marine. It's not a specific salinity.
