This is crazy. If you're in a room with a film crew 14 feet away from you yet you expect children to go back to school sitting a few feet away from one another wearing masks. Not all children are going to keep their masks on. Masks are not made to fit children. I work can I pair a medical field and I know that these pieces of cloth people are using to keep them safe do absolutely nothing. It says right on the box but they do not protect against viruses or are that they are not for medical use. So we are just going to ignore that fax and send our children. Regardless if they have health conditions or not back to school? I've heard many different proposals from different schools like them going part-time Monday through Thursday half of a day and then a week off. There is no sense in exposing them if they're not going to be there full-time with the teachers in the classroom full-time. Also you cannot alternate our children having an older children go one week and are younger children go another week. There are some families that will be having to rely on that older child to also watch a younger child so a parent can work. Now a lot more can be done then was done last year. That was an absolute joke. Teachers can teach from Zoom to children safely at home. There has been so much hype and people getting sick from going to parties, gatherings, even reopening businesses. We have even had to close some of the businesses. Yet even considering children going to a school wearing a mask that does nothing to protect them and only causes health concerns is absolutely absurd. Again I think last year was a absolute complete joke! I think this is it even bigger joke expecially how big of a fuss everything has been made to close our economy, put people out of work, leave people homeless, and able to pay their bills , and now we're starting it again. If this is that so-called reason then there is no way we should be sending our children back to school. I think teachers are paid to be in the classroom a certain many hours a day they can spend that time doing Zoom, answering questions and if need be having one-on-one conversations with students. There should be no more oh so sorry to hear your children and try to figure out how to do their homework and by the way you probably won't be able to find it! We all know that our government is bringing this to the absolute extreme just so they can force us to take a vaccination that was quickly and irresponsibly concocted. Normal vaccinations take on average for 15 years to produce. They go through several trial stages to ensure safety for anyone who is receiving them. Anybody with a brain can look up how are vaccines normally made and what is the average time. And it will give you a rundown of the lengthy periods it takes and different stages they go through to get the vaccination okayed by the FDA. It's ridiculous to think that we will be sending our children to school after our government officials have made such a big deal about this. My child has conditions that would be very serious if she got sick. We have no proper protection and we all know that even in a normal year when children go back to school they constantly get sick because of being exposed to other children who are not sanitary. They're like little Petri dishes with viruses and bacteria covering all them. If we're going to be realistic we're going to have to realize these young children and not keep masks on their face all day long. That they are going to be exposed all day everyday by their peers. That they will not be taking the steps necessary to ensure safety. I myself just to be in a room with someone have to down up with the Disposable gown, make them wear disposable gown, wear a head covering Like a Surgeon would , we're fake sleeves that I can change in between every client I see. Then after all of that I have to clean with an extremely harsh chemical that will kill any sort of bacterial fungus or virus that may be in the room in under two minutes. Then just to see that person I have to put a stupid piece of cloth over my face that does nothing for me or them. Now children are not going to have these chemicals to make sure that their environment is free of bacteria and viruses. No the only thing they're going to have is a semi reminder about washing their hands and sitting in a desk all day that other people touch near a bunch of other students wearing a mask that is ill-fitted and does not protect them one bit. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen for the school districts and the state. We had to put everyone's supposed help before as being able to pay bills or feed our children so if that was the case then you should think of the children that you are putting at risk. If I had to close my business for 4 months because of this yet my child can go back to school if that child get sick there will be a lawsuit!

@@voltron4444real 145,000 Americans are dead. I feel that some anxiety and nervousness is worth having. Psychological damage is a real consideration, and I think Redfield is right. Excellent presentation. But...at 6:00 minute mark, you refer to 6' as a preventive measure for talking and breathing. True, because talking and breathing generate aerosols, and those are very concentrated within those 6 feet. But those aerosols do not just magically stop at the 6 foot mark. They float for hours in the air. To combat them, you need masks, 6 feet, fresh air, and HVAC. You did not touch on fresh air and HVAC. What buildings specifically have adequate ventilation? Which do not?

On June 11th, State schools Superintendent Chris Reykdal, stated in the Kitsap Sun, (www.kitsapsun.com/story/news/local/2020/06/11/washington-schools-plan-in-person-classes-fall/5343261002/) the following: "Reykdal said in-person instruction was a possibility because of Washington state's rapid response to the pandemic. Referencing the Black Lives Matter movement, he said districts' plans should focus on equity, and public officials at the state and federal level should prioritize education funding for underserved communities." What does that mean? Students from "underserved communities" will be given first priority to attend in-person classes, and children from "overserved communities" will be stuck at home with continued [completely inadequate] online schooling? Additionally, an FAQ (www.sno.wednet.edu/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=4993&dataid=15894&FileName=Reopening%20Washington%20Schools%20FAQ%20for%20School%20Districts.pdf) from the The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) was put out that included this question/answer: 29. If districts cannot bring all students back to school each day, does OSPI have expectations for prioritizing services? Yes. Students furthest from educational justice and those who require in-person services to fulfill their basic education needs should be districts’ highest priority. Students with disabilities and those who did not or cannot have equitable access to learning with remote technologies should be prioritized for in-person services. Wait. What? Students furthest from educational justice? What does that mean? Have these people ever heard of Brown v. Board of Education (1954)?

I am a nurse educator for a large health system in Washington and one of the things I have noticed is that even very smart and experienced nurses and doctors are having difficulty remembering new educational concepts since we implemented mandatory masking. It is taking 3 or 4 times as many educational hours to help staff learn new concepts. I think this has to do with visual learning and facial cues giving us a neurological pathway to store new information and incorporate it into our mental knowledge processing centers. Can we please consider having instructors wear clear masks or face shields instead of masks that obscure their faces? I think this will help students to be able to learn better and I have noticed improvements in knowledge absorption when I make my face more via able during instruction.
